I was skeptical at first due to reviews but the price is what won me over. I am so glad I went with the price cuz there are a lot of live ones in it.From my experience as a former mealworm farmer I’d say they are to be around 2-3 weeks old? They are small, maybe just hit molted stage.The smell was not a problemThey seem very healthy and there are mostly live ones with very few dead ones when I pour into my tray I’ll know more. Their color is dark, some light but due to they just molted.My sugar glider has no problem eating them sp assuming they taste juicy and hes enjoyed his mealworms for the day.Also, super fast shipping! I can’t say this enough, the shipping was fast and packaged very well.

All dead.
Ordered 1000 ct mealworms on March 30, received 6 days later on April 5th. They were not shipped until April 3rd late afternoon (per USPS: “Accepted at USPS Origin Facility OGDEN, UT 84401 April 3, 2023, 4:28 pm”). All mealworms were DOA. Most were dark and many were black and hard. I ordered these for the Mama and Daddy Carolina Wren birds that feed them to their baby birds born in a nest in my garage. I had been buying mealworms at a local petstore, but they are so expensive and you don’t get many. The birds love them, but they will only eat LIVE bugs and worms. These DOA’s arrived yesterday, and the babies are fledging today in the garage. Really would have loved to been able to offer the babies LIVE mealworms for their first day of flight. Very disappointing experience.TO GET A REFUND:It was also frustrating that the order page has a return/refund tab, but then when you click it, it says “not eligible for return”. No other options are available or offered on the order page. I looked back at the product advertisement page and it does say “eligible for refund or replacement if you contact seller with photos” in the description… and it also states this on the right-hand side under the “buy now” tab. But! There is no tab or option to contact the seller! Not even on the seller’s storefront page. So, I went to the “help” section on Amazon (scroll down, it is the second to last section near bottom (dark blue background) on the right side, the last option on list)… and I hit the “help” tab. I selected options for Amazon customer care call to me. I explained the situation and lack of any refund options/tabs despite the product ad stating it was “eligible for refund”. The Amazon customer care rep promptly refunded my purchase price in full. I’m glad Amazon took care of it, but I still wish I had LIVE mealworms today! :/

There were no live worms in this tub at all.Update: they provided a refund and replacement. I’ll update again when I receive the new shipment. They provided a number with the shipment and they were very quick to reply. I’m sure it is very hard to ship these guys in the extreme heat and cold.UPDATE:I really appreciate this company going the extra mile to satisfy me. Once I contacted them through the number provided to me in my first shipment my refund was processed within a day or two and they also sent me another batch of mealworms for free. All of the mealworms were alive and wriggling around (as worms do) when I opened the little sack that was inside of the shipping box. The box was neatly packed and the sack inside was tied shut and the top taped up. There were no escapee’s in the shipping box. They even included a little piece of egg carton which is awesome! The only thing I’m bummed about is the size of the mealworms. I’m pretty sure I ordered medium and these guys are really small. I am still happy though, even more importantly Scarlett is happy. She loves them. Thank you Predator Foods, I will order from you again.

This brand did excellent with my order of feeder insects. They arrived with a majority alive, the bedding used didnât have any distinct smell, and the insects themselves were the correct size and all appeared very healthy. I was able to create my own colony to use for breeding from this container alone. Longevity does depend on how you store them after arriving, as they will harm each other if deprived of food. All in all, this saved me a trip to my local pet store and kept my reptile happy! I highly recommend.
