Every evening, as the sky fades into shades of orange and lavender, Laura prepares for what has become a nightly ritual. She reaches for Ritchie’s leash, and before she can even clip it on, his tail begins to wag with unstoppable excitement. The moment they step outside, Ritchie knows exactly where he wants to go. There are no choices to make, no other directions to consider. Across the street, the bright CVS sign glows like a beacon, calling him toward his favorite place in the world.
The moment the door opens, Ritchie bounds forward, his tail wagging with excitement. He does not pause or sniff around like most dogs. Instead, he charges ahead with purpose, his paws clicking on the pavement as if he is late for an appointment. Laura laughs every time, shaking her head, because she knows resistance is futile. There is only one direction Ritchie will go, and that is toward that bright red CVS sign.
At first, Laura thought it was just a passing curiosity. Maybe he liked the automatic doors or the smells drifting out from inside. But one night, everything changed. As they approached the store, a kind woman noticed Ritchie waiting near the entrance, tail thumping eagerly against the ground. She went inside, bought a small pack of dog treats, and handed them to him with a smile. From that moment on, Ritchie was hooked.

Ritchie’s Heartwarming Routine
Now, every single night, without fail, Ritchie leads Laura right to the same spot. If she tries to steer him in another direction, he stops walking completely, sits down, and gives her that stubborn look only dogs can master. “He will not move,” Laura says with a laugh. “If I even try to skip CVS, he lies down until I give in.”

Inside the store, Ritchie has become somewhat of a local celebrity. The employees know him by name, greeting him warmly the moment he trots through the door. Some even keep treats behind the counter just for him. Ritchie’s tail wags so fast it becomes a blur, and his eyes sparkle with joy as he makes his rounds, soaking up attention and affection from everyone who crosses his path.

But it is not just about the treats anymore. Ritchie loves the people, the smiles, the voices, and the gentle pats on his head. He feels at home there. For Laura, it is heartwarming to see how much joy her dog brings to others simply by showing up with his boundless enthusiasm and kind heart.
What started as a small act of kindness has turned into a nightly ritual filled with love and connection. Ritchie reminds everyone he meets that happiness can come from the simplest moments, a walk, a smile, and a treat shared between friends.
