    Installs easily
Easy to add to my cat’s existing climber. She seems to use it – too soon to tell if working but I like the premise!

    Cats avoid it
My cats avoid using this product. Catnip and the toy attached does not help with making it more pleasing to them. The effectiveness is unknown because the ease of use depends on the intended user’s willingness to use it. I do appreciate the options on how to use it. I’ve had it flat on the ground, hanging from door and wrapped around a scratching post.

    Functional, but ideal?
I saw this sisal scratching wrap and the pictures recommending adding it to a worn scratching post. I figured this was worth a shot, as my kitties’ favorite upright scratching post is so far gone that it has shreds of the carpet-like material just hanging down. This wrap seemed a good way to keep them scratching their favorite post, instead of my couch or carpet. When I received this mat, I was a little surprised at how thin it was. I was expecting something closer to the sisal rope you find tied around various cat scratches. That’s not necessarily a downside for this, as it is still quite abrasive and has places for the nails to sink in. And according to the product post, its sandpaper layer should be superior for grinding down nails. I can’t say if that’s true or not, because I have not noticed a difference yet. However, I was able to attach it to the top of their scratcher (after removing any of the carpet scraps still hanging on).It was a little more difficult to attach than I expected, and there were no included instructions. Still, it wasn’t bad. I was a little skeptical that it would fit properly, but once I tightened the straps all the way, it fit fine. However, the straps that hold it around the post wrap directly around it, which also means that the straps are in range of any cats scratching the post. I’m not sure if my cats’ claws will wind up either damaging the velcro-ish straps, or at the very least loosening it enough for the whole mat to slip off.All of that said, it looks pretty good, and it definitely functions. My cats, being cats, are still a bit apprehensive about the change, but I’m hopeful. That said, if you really do want to reinvigorate a portion of a vertical cat scratcher, it’s possible to by sections that fit most of the scratchers I’ve seen for a similar price to this mat, and that’s probably a better option. However, this mat is more versatile, since it can be wrapped around a banister or otherwise hang vertically, and still function as a scratcher.I did appreciate the little hanging feather and bell toy, which is a kind I’ve found most cats really like(you do just have to tie it to the little stretchy string, which is suspended from the mat – quite easy). All told, would I get this product again? Probably not, unless it really does a superior job wearing my cats’ nails down, compared to sisal rope. For other scenarios, where you can’t buy a replacement post segment for about $10 or a whole new scratcher for $20-$30 (like protecting a banister or turning the leg of a desk into a scratcher), it could be a good option.

Doesn’t seem to be doing much for her claws
Cat loves it though I don’t see where it’s helping keeping her claws down.

    Excellent scratcher
This scratch pad will majorly extend my cat tree’s life! It only has one scratch pole on it, which gets a lot of use. My 3 cats shred the rope quickly, no matter how quickly I got glue more on. This mat took less than a minute to install. The Velcro only sticks to itself, and is incredibly sturdy. It hasn’t budged a bit. The mat is pretty thin which is good because it didn’t increase the diameter of the scratching pole by much. And best of all, the cats love it. I thought the weave was a little sparse but it makes it easier for them to grip it. It’s been set up for a week and no fraying so far, so I think it will hold up well.

It’s not for my cat, but the item is as advertised
This item is great for wrapping around an existing post if you want to try to file your cat’s nails. That being said, my cat won’t go near it even if I put it on her favorite post. The velcro straps make it easy to fit on just about anything, but the scratching pad is a bit thick and will take some time and tension to get its shape to mould to its mount. The height of the product is decent enough, but it’s not wide enough to fully cover a 3 inch pole (it covers about 2/3).They included a feather and a bell that’s attached to the pad in order to amuse cats while they scratch, but I didn’t see the value in that so they were easily removed.Everyone’s cat is different so this may be a good value for you and keep your cat entertained, but it didn’t work for mine. I think it’s a novel idea and has good potential, so if your cat likes it then it could be a great value.

    Worked great
I got this to replace the twine on a scratching post on a kitty condo. It worked out better than I expected. It’s stiff, but not difficult to wrap around the post. There are velcro straps wrap around the post to secure the product to the post. The straps are well-designed in that you can wrap them around several times and they still secure to themselves. This means that this will still work with narrower posts, like the one I used it on, along with the thicker posts. It feels like it will last a while to frequent scratching, but will update my review if it doesn’t. Overall, I think this is a great product and good value.

    Odd odor
Out of the bag, it has a slight odor, odd rubbery odor. I wrapped it on a very old scratch pole, it comes with a generous amount Velcro strapping to go around the post a number of times for a very secure hold. It comes with a little feathery fluffy bird toy hanging off of it. So far personally I’ve had no luck with the cat using it. I Put it out on a Catio for one specific cat to use, but I may move it indoors where there are multiple cats just to see who and if anyone uses it. It seems to be built quite well, nice stitching around the border, I don’t know how long it will last, that will be interesting to see. But most I can say is it’s worth a try to see if it works on claws. Update: I decided to move it inside for indoor cats. Rubbed it down with a little cat nap and finally somebody is having a good time using it, quite well too.
