Critter rug
This is advertised as padding for small pet enclosures. And I’m sure that would work fine. It’s large enough.But I ordered it to help with a large critter problem. That corso pictured (standing on this mat) is one of the messiest drinkers on the planet. I swear more water lands on the floor than in her belly.This mat is going under her water dish. It won’t eliminate the problem because she leaves a trail not just a puddle. But it will be good enough to catch most of it.And it’ll easily fit in the washing machine. It’ll be washed frequently so it may not last as long as it would for small critter owners.I chose the pattern that felt most neutral since this will be on our kitchen floor.At the time that I’m writing this she has gotten 1 drink with this in place. Her dribbles didn’t soak through to the floor yet so I’m taking that as a good sign.

Not really cozy or nonslip
I bought this to line my guinea pigâs cage and itâs kind of meh and disappointing. We usually use pet pads with fleece on top to create a cozy and pee absorbent surface for him and the description of this product made it sound like it would create a similar environment with just one layer. It does not. Itâs not really cozy or cushioning at all or exceptionally pee absorbent. Itâs also an abnormal size and I thought it would bend to fit in his 24âx48â cage but itâs really stiff.When it arrived, I put it in the washer with the load of his dirty blankets and fleeces and cage liners and it actually blocked the water and detergent from reaching some of them and they had to be rewashed. There is also no care tag or instructions included with the product, though the Amazon listing has them as Machine wash (no temperature or setting) and hang dry.The listing also describes it as ânon slipâ and Iâm not sure if that means it will stop the small pet from slipping on the bare floor or if it means that it wonât slide on the floor. I imagine it would make a slippery floor less slippery for my guinea pig ð¹ but it definitely slips all over the place if I step on it. Depending on your expectations and guinea pigâs lifestyle (if you have the bottomless cage directly on a hard, slippery floor that is pictured in the listing photo) maybe this would be a better product for you than it was for me, but it will definitely only be used it emergency laundry day situations for my guinea pig.
