Good, but wouldn’t buy again
It’s a good size, durable, and easy to clean. The stairs drive me nuts. No matter how I try to clip them on, they will not stay in place. My hedgehog easily knocks them off without trying and then she cannot access the upper level. I like to keep the soft bedding below and the food/water up top but I can’t do this since there’s a risk she could lose access to her water while I’m out.

Good cage
Bought this as my first hamster cage, it just meets the requirements for a syrian hamster. Nice and deep, and having the second story is a nice touch. Some of the wires were bent but thankfully none compromised the front cage door. Top cage door was bent. Easy to assemble and the wire half just clips onto the bin. Bottle was leaky though.

***SMALL HAMSTER EASILY FITS THROUGH THE BARS AND ESCAPES*** My hamster easily escaped twice and had to be moved to a safer cage. They advertised this cage as appropriate for small animals like small hamsters and mice. It is NOT. DO NOT BUY!!! And DO NOT EXPECT THIS COMPANY TO MAKE IT RIGHT. THEY WILL NOT. Iâm stuck with a $50 cage I canât use. If I return it to get back $50, I lose $40 in shipping charges. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAGE AND ESPECIALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH ROWLAND DIRECT WHOLESALE. Please save your money and protect the safety of your small animal and DO NOT BUY!!! The cage has big gaps along the sides and larger spacing than will safely hold a small hamster. It is advertised as suitable for hamsters and mice but it is NOT. I read another review where a hamster got its leg caught in the gaps along the sides. I can easily see how this happened after putting together my cage. The vertical bars are way too wide for safety. The horizontal bars are too widely spaced and easily bend making it really easy to escape. My hamster got out twice right away. I removed the stairs and the platform to see if that would keep my hamster from reaching the bars and squeezing right through. It DID NOT. She was still able to escape. The 3/8â bars of my Critter Cage brand cage are much narrower, as anyone can see, and yet Rowland Direct Wholesale is advertising this cage as the same 3/8â and denying it is wider. According to my tape measure they are 1/2â. Either way, my hamster escapes this cage so this product does NOT DO WHAT THEY SAY IT DOES. I have asked them to reimburse me for the $20 shipping and send a return shipping label so I can get all my money back which any reputable company would do. They have done nothing except stupidly argue about the width of the bars and have never acknowledged that small animals DO NOT FIT THIS CAGE. Please save your money and protect the safety of your small animal and DO NOT BUY!!!

A steal for its price! (A Review for Large/Small Hamster Owners)
FIRST THINGS FIRST!This cage is for larger breeds of hamsters like Syrians. When I look at this cage, I see too many opportunities of escape for smaller breeds like roborovskiiâs, winter whites, and chinese hamsters.Onto the quality,Itâs been a week of me using this cage and iâm very pleased. The set-up was so easy that I finished it in under ten minutes. The cage came with secure snaps and accessories to secure the cageâs corners. The additional water bottle is a lovely quality add-on as well.My long-hair Syrian loves the burrowing space and potential this cage possesses. However, my biggest critique would be how some of the bars on the cage are too bendy. If you have skittish hamsters that make frequent escape attempts PLEASE stick to glass containers/plastic tubs. The bars of this cage are bendable enough to squeeze/pry through if your hamster is persistent enough. If your hamster is prone to monkey-barring make sure you use abundant bedding/set up the ramp at an appropriate level as well. Or ideally, stick to a glass/container enclosure to prevent any serious injury for your hamster.In summation, this cage is awesome for larger breeds of hamsters. Due to the abundant space and opportunities for hides, I canât see many hamsters developing cage rage in it but itâs always a possibility. Need a cheap, wide, and decent quality wire cage for your hamster? Buy this cage to save the extra dollars youâd spend at a pet store!

GREAT cage! A âhamster mansionâ
I hardly ever write reviews for products but just felt I had to with this awesome cage! I had been researching hamster cages for months and could never find any that were of a decent size, and the ones I did find were $100+ to $200 and just didnât seem worth the money. I am so thrilled I found this cage, itâs probably about 3 or 4 times bigger than the one he had before and so much better as far as quality, and I paid less for this one than the other one! Itâs sturdy and easy to put together. Snicklefritz moved into this cage 2 days ago and seems so much happier already!

Decent cage but be careful!
So I love this cage, but while putting it together there were a ton of metal splinters and most of them sliced my hands and arms. I fortunately had a metal file and was able to file them down for the safety of me, my children, and my animal.
