Customers say
Customers find the Ammonia Alert monitor to be accurate and well worth the money, particularly appreciating its usefulness for quarantine tanks. The monitor’s functionality and ammonia level monitoring receive mixed feedback – while some say it works well, others report it doesn’t work at all. The readability and color accuracy also get mixed reviews, with some finding it easy to read like a digital clock while others struggle to get good readings, and some noting no color changes while testing.

Great product!
Worked great. Used for saltwater tank cycling as well as clownfish breeding.

Great head up when these start to spike
These work great when cycling or just to get heads up on a spike

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED life saver!
Has saved me already several times while increasing the salinity from brackish to marine for or G. tile eel. The salt can kill your cycle and it’s been a slow rough process, but the addition of these has helped me safely keep excellent water quality. I still test, but these are a great quick alert, and when you least expect it, they save you! â¤ï¸

Works as required.
I like them. Are they perfect? No. They take a while to react and I still use my test kit. Still, it gives you an idea of what might be happening to the water.

Exactly as advertised
Well worth the price, I now have three of them!

Save your fish, snails and shrimp.
I have these in every aquarium I have (5). They maybe a little pricey upfront, but they DO monitor the water well and for a year. It’s easy to walk past and glance at the tag. When one of mine detected a spike, I used the Master test kit and saw that the monitor was in the same range as the Master Test. After a water changed, the Tag returned to “normal” a few hours later. Well worth the price and better than replacing the critters.

These are a life saver!
Iâll always have these in my tanks. Theyâve saved me a couple times from ammonia spikes after treating with medication. They’ve been accurate in detecting ammonia, even at almost a year old. You canât compare the numbers with other ammonia test kits because these measure free ammonia and most test kits measure total ammonia. Free ammonia is whatâs toxic to fish and the most important to monitor. I highly recommend these!

Doesn’t work! Get an API test kit instead.
I put these in my two tanks that I’m currently cycling, and they both say that my ammonia levels are “safe” at less than 0.02ppm. However, when I test the water with my API ammonia liquid test kit, my ammonia levels are up to 4ppm! I just wasted $22. I hope nobody relies on these to monitor their water quality. Ammonia levels of 4ppm reading as less than 0.02 ppm is not safe at all!I am aware that these detect harmful free ammonia as opposed to total ammonia. However, they still read much lower than they should. I saw no change in color, even after adding 1mL of ammonia to my 20 gallon tank, which is about 1ppm.

Have used these ammonia badges for approximately 25 years. Excellent at showing even the slightest amount of ammonia. I always use in new tank start-ups excellent safety measure for your fish. I have used in my saltwater & freshwater tanks. I have also confirmed the accuracy with liquid test kits to prove there worth. Highly recommend this excellent product. P.S. I am not sponsored or paid for this information, just a fish nerd.

Excelente como todos los productos Seachem, de una medición correcta que la he verificado con mis kits.

If you keep fish, you need these. They have saved me from accidental cycle crashes, just replace every year, much quicker than testing separately and accurate.

I love that I can have a snapshot of the ammonia level in my tank at a glance.
