This item is cheaper than getting them at the pet store. However, there are a few things that should be noted or taken into account when buying this bulb for your pets. The bulb itself runs about 73 degrees Fahrenheit, so take that into consideration when using it for your buddy. Also, based on my UVB light testing card, the card shows it is giving minimal UVB rays at a distance of 1 foot. That is not sufficient enough for our friends such as bearded dragons that prefer higher amounts of UVB light. This item is UVA/UVB 5.0, so keep that in mind as well. Lastly, I cannot speak on the longevity of this item, but I will give an update on how long this item serves me.The last paragraph was about the performance of the bulb, this paragraph is about the functionality of the item. The item fits perfectly into the socket without a problem. Simply insert both ends into the groove and turn the bulb to lock into place.Packaging. Great for advertising its product, but uses a lot of packaging to the point that I would considerate counter productive when thinking green.All in all, I would recommend this item to a friend

Box is misleading
Product is fine. The problem is the product box shows it as a UVB 10.0 when ordering the 5.0- see photo. Inside box was the 5.0 but they should really label better or at least put a sticker over the 10.0 to reflect product inside box.

Very good terrarium fluorescent lamp tube, full spectrum light. My bearded dragon loves this.
This is my first time ordering furnishings for my bearded dragon’s terrarium on Amazon. They can get very expensive in pet stores, but Amazon’s prices are much more reasonable. He loves his new fluorescent lamp tube, and I also was able to order him a lamp hanger so he can get proper use out of it.Full spectrum light is important for all reptiles, and this terrarium fluorescent lamp tube provides full spectrum UVB light. My little dragon has been basking in this light ever since I set it up except when I take him out to play with him or let him swim in the bathtub. He loves the light this gives out, and I can see why.This is a 15 watt bulb, size T8, 18″ long, so if you have a lamp stand already be sure to check to see that this fits it. I didn’t know this but learned from the listing that the bulb will need to be changed in 12 months, which is a good long time for a light bulb to last, because it will lose its UVB efficacy.Excellent product, a terrarium fluorescent lamp tube for your reptiles that needs a stand or some sort of base so you can set it up in their terrarium. My bearded dragon has been basking away in this light ever since we set it up, so I know he likes it, and it’s important that he gets this light. This delivers full spectrum UVB light for 12 months, which is very long time for a light bulb to last, and after that, even if it doesn’t burn out, it loses its UVB efficacy and needs to be replaced. This is a great price on a wonderful product for pet reptiles.

Having kept reptiles for years, you can’t underestimate the importance of using a UV bulb. As a general rule, the closer the animal is to the bulb, the more effective it is.At 18″, it’s suitable for smaller enclosures, and should work fine on top of a standard mesh lid, provided that it’s not a tall enclosure.Regardless of whether this still outputs lights, you really should replace it on a yearly basis to make sure that you’re still providing adequate UV for your pets.While the listing does mention heat, this is NOT a replacement for a heating pad or actual ceramic/incandescent heat lamp, which should still be provided on one side of the enclosure or whatever is appropriate for what you are housing.If you are housing an animal that does not require additional heat, then this lamp should be good enough.At the time of this review, this 18″ bulb sells for under $40, which is significantly less than some brand name UV reptile bulbs sold here on Amazon.
