Josh’s Frogs Superworms

Superworms are the larvae of the Darkling Beetle Zophobas morio and have long been a staple feeder insect in the reptile and amphibian hobby because of how inexpensive and easy they are to store. Superworms are great feeder insects for:

Leopard GeckosCrested GeckosFat Tail GeckosBearded DragonsMonitorsTurtleslizardsWild birds

Nutritional Information Protein 20%, Fat 18%, Fiber 3%, Water 58%

These Superworms are shipped from Josh’s Frogs facility in Michigan and are about 1 1/2″ to 2″ in length, but because it is a natural product, sizes may vary slightly. When Josh’s Frogs ships Superworms they are packed in an organza bag with egg crate, zip tied for security (150 – 500 count), in a vented container with wheat bran (25 and 50 count), or in a vented box (1,000 count).

Josh’s Frogs offers Superworms in 25, 50, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 500 and 1000 Counts!

How to Feed When Using With Reptiles/Amphibians

Superworms can be fed as a treat or staple, depending on the animals you’re feeding. All Superworms should be supplemented with a proper vitamin and mineral supplement before being fed to your pet. Feed Superworms using feeding tongs or in a worm dish.

Older Superworms may pupate. These pupae may still be offered to your pet. Discard adult beetles, as most animals find these distasteful.

How to Feed When Using With Birds

Superworms can be fed as a treat or staple for a wide variety of pet and wild birds like blue birds, orioles, grosbeaks, and robins.

Feed Superworms by placing them in a deep plastic dish or feeder. Superworms are climbers and will use wood sides to escape; so do not use a wooden bird feeder.

Wild birds absolutely love these high protein feeders as a treat and they can be taken back to the nest for fledglings.

How to Store

Before feeding them to your reptile or amphibian, simply keep them at room temperature and provide them with a food/water source, such as a carrot.

As Superworms go bad, they will become dark in color and eventually turn black and spoil. Discard any black Superworms.

Under ideal conditions, Superworms should keep for several weeks.

    These worms are SUPER!
Perfect! These are nice and big and fat, just what my beardies like. Way cheaper than the pet stores. Not one dead worm! I was very surprised by that, as where I usually get them online there are always a few dead.Packaged well. Mine were double bagged in the mesh bags and had an “egg carton” and even a cleaner crew of little bugs. (Sorry. Don’t know the name.) Soooooo much better than just in a box full of paper!I was able to just dump them right in their container. (I recommend a plastic tub (such as an ice cream tub) full of old fashioned oats. No lid or it will get moldly and smell horrid, at least if you live in a humid area. Y’all reading this probably know that already, but just in case. They will keep for at least 3-4 months this way. Just feed them a hand full of the veggies my dragons eat.)Definitely will be my new source of supers.

    My beardies love these supers!
These Superworms are a favorite for both of my beardies. They’ve always arrived in great condition, are easy to get out of the package, and they live a good long time, to boot. There was only one exception – when the carrier delivered them before they were expected and they were left in the mailbox for a good chunk of a hot day. Most of them arrived dead that time, sadly. But I contacted the seller with a picture of how they arrived and was sent a new box, pronto. (Just be sure to ask the post office to hold it if your outdoor temps are above or below their comfort zone!)Couldn’t be happier with these worms (unless I was a beardie, myself :P)

Shipped quickly and they all arrived healthy and ready for …
Shipped quickly and they all arrived healthy and ready for a very spoiled bearded dragon to devour. I store them in oatmeal and they stay alive without any issues. We only have one beardie, so if we order the larger quantities (500+) it’s too many for us to have. This lasts us for several months and seems to be the perfect amount, while providing a substantial cost savings. Generally we use 6-7 containers that we had from when we previously bought superworms at the pet store and put the worms in there. Every once in a while I add a small slice of potato to the container to keep the worms healthy and give them a bit of food and moisture.

    CRUEL, HORRIBLE
I’ve ordered crickets from JF before but never Supers before, and I’ll never buy from JF ever again. Opening the box was met with the immediate and foul odor of rot. The bag inside was caked black with the dead bodies of Superworms, which had a large number stuffed into a space much too small and they were almost all crushed to death. After picking through dead, rotted bugs for over an hour I was able to fish out a little over 100 live ones out of 350. I’ve submitted a complaint to JF and if hey correct I may change my review, but as an animal enthusiast, I take great care of my feeder insects too, and the conditions were nothing short of cruel. Many of the dead were not only crushed, but the ones that weren’t had empty bellies, there was NO FOOD for the journey, which means I have to revive these starving, half-dead feeders before my animal can even eat them. I’ve order many live feeders offline over many years and have never seen anything like this. Shocking.EDIT: all the worms that were left ended up dying within 24 hours. Seller insisted I left them out in the heat and refused any service to me. Will not be buying from this brand ever again.

I am very happy with my purchase
I am very happy with my purchase. I had many concerns as they were traveling across the country to get to me and it was in the winter. I was upset when the got here as they were frozen into a block of worms. I was about to throw them out and move on as this was one of my concerns and they did warn about shipping to cold areas of the country, but at the last minute I figured well might as well warm them up and see if any survived. I put them in front of my fireplace and to my amazement within a couple of minutes a few of them started to wiggle and then writhe about. Once again to my amazement within a few more minutes all of them had come back to life. I couldn’t believe it. I think I had lost a few of them but out of 350 it was really no loss at all. They lasted me a long time and I just placed my 2nd order. I was very impressed with the seller as well as they had contacted me and thanked me for my repeat business. They provided me with contact info for any questions or issues I may have. I will continue to use them in the future.

    Very impressed – multiple orders
These say Josh’s Frogs but they come from a place called Bassett’s Cricket Farm. I have ordered superworms from them at least five times now and I’m thoroughly impressed. I live in Arizona and it’s 110 degrees today. I opened my box of superworms and didn’t find a single one dead! I was thoroughly amazed. They were fat and happy as usual. My chickens and goldfish go nuts over these worms. I highly highly recommend these and make sure you have them delivered to your work to gross out your coworkers! It’s an added perk with the shipment. 🙂

    They Escaped
So our 350 count worms arrived today. Wahoo! They are alive and kicking. Look healthy. Very active. My beardie hasn’t tried one yet….but they look tasty. As with many reviews, my only complaint is the packaging. A seriously tiny cardboard box…..too small for 350 1 1/2 inch worms…..and they were in a thin mesh bag. Except they weren’t. Within 30 mins of bringing the package in I noticed a worm on my kitchen counter next to the unopened box, and another one half out. Unboxing was pretty harrowing. They didn’t appear to be shipped with food and had no grain/oats/etc at all. They were alive though!! I am freaked out enough by having them come out of the box (thank God I was home) that I am not positive I will order again until they figure out packaging.

    Awesome Company
Josh’s Frog’s is the BEST!!! I only order super worms for my 3 Beardies from them. They are always delivered fast and ALIVE!! they are gut-loaded and huge! I had one issue on my first order with them in December 2017. They came frozen and dead due to a cold snap we had although they put a heating pack in. I contacted there customer service department witch was so prompt in getting back to me. They replaced my order with no problem!!! I HIGHLY recommend them!
