Give it a week or two.
I dropped two of the large balls in each of my two 10 gallon tanks over a week ago. I didnât rinse the ones in my home tank and two of my shrimp in that tank went straight to them and then and I never saw them visit it again. I DID, however, rinse the ones I dropped in my work tank and those shrimp didnât even blink. They were not interested. But fast forward a week or so, I finally found one of my shrimp in my work tank feeding on it. Iâm guessing the balls need to start breaking down before the shrimp can really get anything off of them. Iâm also guessing that the reason the two shrimp went to the first ball was because there was residue on it but then it rinsed off. I have not seen any negative results of having them in there. Both my fish and shrimp seem to be doing well. They are priced well. Iâm told the should be replenished about every 3 months. I will definitely purchase these again when they finally break down.

Shrimp health
These shrimp balls are neat looking in my river-bottom tank. They have already inspected them after the first hour of dunking them and seem to be harmless. The balls are supposed to help with shrimp/snails with their shell health and after a month I have noticed new growth on the snails at least. You cant get an easy product to use besides dropping balls as recommended for your tank size versus costly liquids and measuring.

I ordered the 20-piece pack, and the balls are about 1 cm each. At first, I thought my shrimp would eat them or at least interact with them, but they donât. Later I realized they arenât meant to be eaten, just to slowly release minerals into the water.Since adding them to my tanks, none of my shrimp or snails have died (before, I was losing a few gradually and wasnât sure why). I canât say for certain if itâs all thanks to these balls, but the timing makes me think theyâre helping. If youâre expecting your shrimp to nibble on them, thatâs not what they do. But if you want a simple way to add calcium and minerals for healthier shrimp and snails, they seem to work.
