perfectly good chicken, very much like other brands
It is good, and very similar to all the other name brands out there. I buy this stuff based on price hence why I have tried a few different brands. It is mostly chicken cubes with some shards and powder. Very typical. I use it primarily for use with my dogs as I like to give them a chicken topper for their kibble. I usually have fresh chicken on hand, but occasionally I run out or failed to defrost or just didnt have time to cook up some more. So I reach for the freeze dried stuff. I can rehydrate it real quick, or I can just toss on their kibble. I can easily squeeze it into crumbles and powder if I want to stretch it. And also I keep some on hand for well.. emergencies or food shortages, etc. I have definitely walked into a store and not seen a single piece of chicken at times. Good to have options in the home pantry.

Great in Dishes!
Great value and quality for the money! It’s very easy to use in all sorts of dishes, just soak what you need in some chicken broth and you’re set to go. Cook time is minimal since it’s dried. Tastes good in dishes. I wouldn’t use it for a stand alone entree because it’s diced. I bought several and am storing the others for later. The seal on the can is super tight.

A YUMMY TASTY CHICKEN CHAW!
I am revising my first review!On my first try the chicken did not rehydrate well when I covered the chicken with boiling water. I waited the suggested five minutes, but the chicken was not easy to chew. I liked taste OK but the chicken was VERY tough.I tried a different rehydration method after a couple of days. Instead of following the directions on the can, I put the chicken pieces and chicken bits in a little Pyrex bowl, poured boiling water over my serving, and then put a lid on so the steam and heat would not escape!I let the chicken sit in the covered bowl less than a half an hour.Voila! That did it! When I checked on my chicken, I found it to be perfectly chewable.It was nice to have some tasty chicken. I liked it much better than the canned chicken that you get in the grocery stores!!I will buy this product again!!!!!!!

Definitely a pantry item to keep
Me to my kids: Hey! Should I rate the chicken 4 stars or 5?My kids: I thought the chicken was going to be absolutely trash so and itâs legit chicken so, 5 stars!So I opened the can and it already looked half empty, as opposed to their freeze dried spinach which was almost a totally full can. I will also say that while the photo looks like a can of chicken chunks, the smaller particles settled to the bottom and half of the can is what Iâd call chicken dust. My kid immediately took a bite of chicken and declared it not half bad, even freeze dried it tastes like chicken jerky. I think next time we cook with the chicken, Iâm going to braise it a little longer to reconstitute it, because the boiling water for 5 minutes as was the directions left little tough pieces in the soup. All of my kids devoured the soup as if it were fresh chicken though.

Great Tasting & Super Easy to Use!
I love freeze dried food because of the nutrition retained & the ease of using such products. This is another solid product from an excellent brand.ProTip: to not waste anything – use the “powder” at the bottom of the can to both add protein & thicken sauces or soups or even pasta dishes. Hold the can upside down with the lid on & shake it a bit to get the dust & small bits to the “top” & then use a mesh strainer to separate out the normal sized pieces.

Very disappointed
I have purchased freeze dried chicken for years from other vendors. I decided to try Augason Farms Chicken which was priced lower than what I had been paying. When I began to open the can, there was no air dispersed which seemed odd. The can was only half full, the meat was extremely hard, and, even after rehydrating, the pieces were very dry. Perhaps, all this was due to the can not having been sealed properly. I have since returned to purchasing Mountain House which has been consistently high quality with the least amount of âdust.â
