The smell apparently does not match the flavor!
This is one of those strange items to review. Should I say they’re delicious? Probably not, but my local birds adore these. I know I supported many batches of young birds this Summer.By the way, these arrive carefully bagged in fairly thick plastic, and placed in a box. I’m glad – these do smell like dead bugs. And yet, the birds run out from the bushes when I shake some out on the ground!

My Indian Runner ducks go crazy for these! Theyâre a great source of protein, and I love that theyâre made in North America instead of overseas. The larvae look clean and fresh â not dusty or crushed like some other brands Iâve tried.Only thing Iâd caution, and wish was warned on was â make sure to seal the bag in a plastic container after opening. Ants will find them if you donât (learned that the hard way!). Otherwise, absolutely worth it â my girls have never been happier.

My chickens love, love, love, these things! Great as a protein supplement to their diet. I have purchased many boxes of these and will keep buying them. I wish they weren’t so pricey though. If I could find some for less money I would get those instead.

I used to buy a different brand from a local store, and the chickens would go crazy for them. These are different, Iâm actually not sure if theyâre soldier fly larvae or just mealworms being sold as such. The chickens like them alright, but they donât love them. Also, the other brand I used to buy had a very strong smell,, these ones donât really smell at all. These are quite a bit less expensive, however.
