    Nice heat controller
Originally was going to use this to operate an aquarium heater on a small tank. Changed how to use it and instead I’ve got it connected to a heat mat which in turn is under my plankton cultures. Does a good job of keeping them at 78F. Easy to set up and works well.

Versatile Oiibo Digital Thermostat: Ideal for Bread Proofing and Reptile Heating
12/7/2024Model Number: TC07Manufacturer: OiiBOASIN: B0D623QQNM**Review of Oiibo Digital Heat Mat Thermostat – Great for Bread Proofing, but a Few Considerations**I recently picked up the Oiibo Digital Heat Mat Thermostat, PID Temperature Controller, with the goal of using it for proofing bread dough at temperatures between 80-90°F. While it’s marketed primarily for reptile heating pads, it has plenty of versatility, and I figured it might work perfectly for my baking setup.### What I Love:First off, this thermostat is very easy to use. It has a simple plug-and-play setup – just insert the temperature probe into your desired location, set your target temperature using the up/down buttons, and plug in your heat source. I love that it has a large, easy-to-read LCD display, which shows both the set temperature and the real-time temperature. This makes it easy to monitor the environment without any guesswork. The Oiibo model also comes with a temperature range of 41°F-149°F, which covers most of my needs for bread proofing, where I usually need to maintain a steady 80-90°F. It also offers PID heating, which helps provide a more stable temperature regulation compared to traditional on/off thermostats. I especially like that it can be used with both heat mats and lamps, adding to its versatility. And let’s not forget about the handy power-off memory – even after a power outage, it remembers your settings.### How I Used It:For my bread proofing setup, I’m using a 64 Qt. clear plastic container with a 30-watt incandescent light bulb inside. The container has two small moisture relief holes in the lid, which I can use to pass the power cord for the light and the temperature probe without needing to drill any holes. This feature makes it super easy to close the lid tightly and maintain a warm, controlled environment for dough.### A Few Drawbacks:Now, as for the performance, the thermostat worked quite well for my initial tests. However, I did notice a slight delay in the response time when the temperature crossed the set point. I used an additional thermometer to monitor the exact temperature, and it seemed like the thermostat took a few minutes to adjust once the set temperature was exceeded. This could be a minor issue with the PID control’s delay or just user error; I plan on running more tests at different temperatures to see if it’s consistent. One thing worth noting – while it works for my bread proofing, it might not be quite as precise or immediate as a more specialized device for such applications. If you’re looking for *instantaneous* temperature adjustments, this may not be the best option for you, but it’s certainly close enough for my needs.### Final Thoughts:Overall, I’m pleased with the Oiibo Digital Heat Mat Thermostat for my bread proofing setup. It’s made from high-quality materials, and it seems durable enough for long-term use. The only reason I haven’t given it a perfect rating yet is because of the delayed response time when exceeding temperature limits. That said, I’m planning to do further testing and will update my review accordingly. If you’re looking for a versatile thermostat for a variety of applications, including bread proofing, seedling heating, or reptile enclosures, I think this Oiibo thermostat is a solid choice. It’s easy to use, safe, and efficient—just keep in mind the slight delay when it comes to adjusting temperature after the set point is exceeded.

    Overheat
It works great getting the temp to the desired temperature, but after it reached the desired (and/or) it was warmer than the desired temperature, it turned the heat lamp back on, overheating the area. Desired temperature was 70F, it was 77 in the enclosure and the heat was still on.

    Works decent.
So, I use this for my dubia roach colony. It seems to do the job well. It’s relatively simple and does the job. I can’t complain. If anything changes I will update. The screen is decently bright which doesn’t work for me, but I can see the utility of that. All in all I recommend.

Simple and accurate operation for non-electronic loads
EDITED: I’ve removed one star from my original review. The reason for this is that the controller apparently applies power to the heating pad even if the actual measured temperature is higher than the target temperature, and in this case, I’m using a 48-watt (actual) heating pad, it continues to apply almost 7 watts even though the temperatures are equalised. This seems to me to waste power.Additional note: By itself, the controller does not draw enough power to register on the meter I have. In comparison with an Inkbird controller, which uses measurable power just to run itself and its relays, this draws effectively none.____Original review:This controller seems to work very well, however, use ONLY with “analog” heat mats or incandescent bulbs. Do not use with heat mats that have any kind of digital control (which would be redundant anyway) or use with any kind of electronic ballast fluorescent or LED IR bulbs.I believe the output of this control is “pwm” (pulse width modulation) which I did not know was a thing with AC, but apparently it is. If I have an electronic device plugged in as part of the load, it goes into error mode … an LED light flickered.Being that this is a PID control, that’s how it is supposed to work. What it does it detect the difference between your setpoint and the actual measured temperature … the greater the “error” (read: difference) the more voltage is applied to the load. As the gap closes (the temperature of the measured area becomes closer to the setpoint) the controller lowers the voltage until the measured temp matches the setpoint temperature. The included instructions were complete, clear and concise. The text is a little small for persons with sight issues, but that’s a quibble. The quality of the unit seems fine. The temperature reads (and reacts) within 1 degree. (compared to two other themostatic controls I have .. this is accurate)The temperature probe is sealed, so likely waterproof, or at least splash proof. I will have to shield it from a destructive beak, however, when I use it for my parrot’s nighttime heater on cold nights. If he gets to it, he’ll destroy it. This is not a flaw … it is just a fact of life.Packaging was minimal and simple. Cardboard box! Nice.

    Good, accurate thermostat!
I always test thermostats away from my reptile enclosures to test for accuracy. And I’m happy to report that this one works great! It’s easy to adjust the settings to get it just right. This thermostat really helps keep the temperature consistent, so it doesn’t do such dramatic shifts from bright to dim. Works well with large and small heat lamps. I recommend it!

    Works — not fancy
Programming was a little weird and I had a lot of trouble with getting it set. Once I did get it set, it does seem to be working really well.

    not bad
seems to work fine, my only gripe is that when the desired temperature is reached, it still drains some power. in my case it still was using ~5 watts even when above the heat threshold, when fully powered and below it draws 20, so about 1/4th. not really a huge deal, but I would have thought when the threshold is reached it would just cut power to whatever is plugged in.
