Great analysis
Good detailed analysis – better than a simple home test or basic county extension test.Saves money by avoiding adding unnecessary soil amendments and fertilizers

Easy to read test results and quick response
Bought this to test the soil for our one acre of grass. Super easy directions to follow and within a week I had an email explaining what fertilizer we need to apply. This test takes the guess work out of wondering if I am spending money on the correct product. We will be busy spreading lime. Very helpful and highly recommend!

When you add postage, you’re better off going to your extension office
This test was totally satisfactory. Received results in a nice PDF by email the day after they received my sample. It included phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium, as well as pH and organic matter %. Nitrogen wasn’t included. It’s cheap on amazon, but when you add $10 postage to mail the pound of soil required, it comes up to the same price as getting your soil tested locally at your extension office. I think I’ll do that next time, as the results were clearly geared more towards farming than home gardening. Recommendations for amendments were useless for a home veggie patch.

Never received my results.
Only gave 1 star because I have not received my results back. It says results in 1 week in the description. I sent in my sample over 3 weeks ago will be 4 in a couple days. As for the actual product seems ok. Easy to read and understand the instructions. Just fill the sample bag to the line with test soil, seal bag and mail in using the preprinted mail address sticker. As for understanding the results I don’t know other than I’m out $15 for the soil sample test from Whitetail Institute and $10 for the 1st class shipping from the post office. At this rate deer season will be here and gone before I know what amendments my food plot needs. Should have gone through the local county extension office.

Wish I had done this years ago. Worth itâs weight in gold. Donât hesitate.
I struggled for years. I put every conceivable effort behind growing a lawn. Nothing worked it just seemed to get worse. I tried different fertilizers Different pesticides, organic, non-organic, reseeding over seeding aerating nothing seem to help. I cut down trees for more sun changed blade height, increased then cut back watering. Nothing helped moss took over and weeds kept coming. I outsourced the job but when their supposedly magic fertilizer showed no impact they only wanted to sell me things I already tried.I bought the soil test out of desperation. It sat on my desk for nearly a year because by this point I was so discouraged I didnât bother. I finally got bored enough to try it. When the test reports came back it showed I have an amazing amount of phosphorus in the soil built up. That will lead to shallow roots, and all the other problems associated with it. Once I switched to a low phosphorus, no phosphorus blend I immediately begin to see an improvement. I made therecommended soil additions and now my lawn is thriving. After only two summers the difference is dramatic. I still have high phosphorus levels but they are no longer pegged off the chart. All the wasted years, effort and thousands of dollars could have been avoided if I had started where I ended up highly recommend this as the very first thing you do regarding growing anything. It will save you money and quite possibly your sanity.

I am an agricultural consultant that purchased this test for my personal garden. I take soil tests for clients regularly and know how to do it and have my own soil sampling probe. I received the soil test back with a pH value of 7.4. Of course, I think that I will not need to add any lime but I sent a soil sample to the laboratory I use for my clients, which costs about the same minus the fact that I have to pay Whitetail’s shipping fee to send off the sample. I had a pH value of 5.6. Whitetail Institute is completely unreliable and not worth the extra cost.
