Excellent for so many things.
Excellent, pocket-size temperature gauge. Better than the plastic ones made today.I use it for checking R/C motors for overheating, aquarium water temp’s, even the outdoor air temp.A little pricey, but they were $80 when they first came out 20 years ago.

For the price , you would think the readings would be back lit so they would be easy to seeâ¦Havenât tested it against other units, but it does seem to be close to accurate, the only disadvantage, is you have to be very close to the area being measuredâ¦

Great to check pavement temp before walking your dog.
I use this to check the temperature of the pavement before taking my dog for a run. Itâs been very accurate for this temperature reading, probably because the emissivity of asphalt, cement, dirt are all around .93-.95Make sure to read up on IR thermometers to see if they will work for your intended application. IR wonât take a reading through glass for example.Iâm very happy with this, itâs size and simplicity of use is perfect for taking on runs with my dog.

Reads 3 to 6 degrees high
This is a better build quality than “penlite” or “keychain” IR thermometers (which are plastic).Unfortunately, the accuracy is quite poor. In reading items from 60 to 110 F, I found it consistently 3 to 6 degrees too high (compared to a Fluke IR Gun and to a cheap IR gun). (Yes, I know about area of focus, been using IR guns for many many years)
