Great to use for UV fluorescent lamp and mercury vapor bulb. Quick and easy to use. Not a precision instrument, but can give you advice when to replace the bulb.
Card changes colors from White to Purple based on the UVB & UVA ray strength.

This reusable card can measure ultraviolet (UVB/UVA) radiation accurately in 10 seconds. Hold the card under the UVB lamp at the basking site (within 5cm/2in distance to the lamp) to check if the UVB /UVA is available or not.
It can be used for any uv bulbs.
Do not place the card in the sunlight.

The âsunâ turns more purple than this and i tried this on my uvb light that I bought by âlucky herb reptile compact fluorescent lamp bulb 10.0â here on amazon ðð¼ HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Does what it’s supposed to do
It changes color to show whether there is UVB. The purple is lighter or darker depending on where it’s placed. It works within a few seconds.The picture against the wooden background is outside the terrarium so no uvb. The picture with very light purple on the rock is on one end of the terrarium so less uvb there. The picture with my bearded dragon is about 9″ below the lamp that’s sitting above the mesh cover of the terrarium. It’s darker than the one on the rock suggesting there’s more uvb there. The last about 2″ below the lamp and it’s the darkest purple.As others have said, it does not give the uv index but the varying colors gives a clue as to the intensity of uvb. It works for what it’s designed to do.

This is perfect. Ideal for its intended use–just hold it around your pet’s enclosure to see if the UV light is reaching whatever spot you’re testing. I found out that the UV light just… wasn’t. I moved the light, and within a day or two my bearded dragon was much more active and happier.When you hold the card up to UV light–or wherever you’re testing–there’s a purple sun on the left side of the card that slowly appears (~10 seconds or so to full appearance) if the UV levels are sufficient, like transitioning glasses lenses. The sun fades away slowly (a minute or two). The drawback is that if you’re testing multiple spots in the enclosure, you’ll need to wait for it to fade to test again. But to mitigate that, the package includes two cards.I can’t speak to the longevity of the card, but it claims that each is reusable up to about 500 10-second exposures. They’re cheap enough that even if it doesn’t quite last that long, they’re easily replaceable.I had no bias either way ordering this, but I will never set up an enclosure again without one. It’s that useful.

I purchased these to monitor the life of my uva/uvb bulb for my tortoise. They are easy to use and also reusable if you store them in a dark place.

Ambiguous Results, Value for Price
This profuct you hold under the light and it turns a shade of purple. It’s really hard to tell “ok” vs “change soon”, but you can see CHANGE NOW easily. It’s just subjective because it’s colors the card changes, not values or anything quantifiable, which I would prefer. Good for the price.

I bought these for my tortoise after her UV bulb burnt out the first time and these cards work Wonderfully. I no longer have to worry about the bulb burning out without my knowledge anymore (as it had been out for a few days before I noticed). If I have any doubts, I can easily test the lamp to see if it still works and now do regular checks. These bring me a lot of comfort being able to know at any moment that my Tortoise is receiving adequate UVB.Word of advice though: Place the card at the level where the reptile will actually be. The bulb can be working just fine according to the card if itâs being held right under the lamp, but thereâs still the possibility that not enough UVB is actually reaching the animal and you donât realize because the wrong height has been measured.I normally place one card down on top of each of my tortoises favourite basking/climbing spots to test the UV levels that she is actually receiving.

Tested with a UV flashlight and then tested my turtle’s bulbs. It gives me peace of mind that he’s getting the light he needs. Easy to use and hard to find.

I bought this UVB light for my reptile. Itâs basically a grow light so I could use it for my plants too and by the way I tested this card on two of my other LED grow lights and they have failed as well!!! so in the video youâre going to see where I tested underneath my UVB Light long beam light thing and it doesnât work but as soon as I place it underneath the actual reptile UVB light it works .
