So much info in this book besides just the recipes.
I can say with certainty I’ll be using this book every week. I bought this book for the recipes which are exactly what I was looking for. They are easy to follow, easy to get hold of the ingredients, and healthy for my little pup. But I really appreciate the information that accompanies the recipes. The book has explained a lot to me about the benefits of home made doggy food. There is a lot of info on dog nutrition, including what I should be focusing on for my breed of pup. The book also provides meal plans with very helpful shopping lists. There are also tips on food quantities and special diets, allergies, and other info I would never have thought to consider before.I can recommend this book to other small dog owners.

Great dog food cookbook!
Review Your PurchasesIâve been getting multiple pet cookbooks for my family, and especially for my momâs senior dog, trying to find healthy and longevity boosting recipes. âThe Small Dogâs Kitchenâ is a comprehensive, vet-approved guide to homemade meals for dogs under 20 lbs. With balanced recipes, weekly plans, supplement tips, and easy grocery-store ingredients, it empowers owners to ditch commercial food and confidently nourish their pups with safe, nutritious, and delicious meals tailored to small breed needs

Solid guide!
This turned out to be a really solid book for small dog parents. I liked that the recipes are organized by protein: chicken, turkey, salmon, etc. It makes it easy to flip to whatever youâve got in the fridge and just get cooking.I saw some reviews complaining about the supplement part, but honestly, this is misplaced. Kibble is advertised as “balanced” because it has supplements, except it also has a ton of other additives like fillers, cellulose etc. that are damaging in the long term, and that’s why we home feed! Sure, the last step of each recipe saying “Add supplements” is boring, but here, the author has a chapter explaining what your doggie needs and how to give it safely.Overall, itâs straightforward and easy to follow guide. A good reference if you want to feel more confident making meals at home for your little dog.

Healthy Homemade Meals for Small Dogs
This book is a practical and thoughtful guide for anyone caring for a small dog. It offers numerous balanced recipes covering beef, chicken, lamb, turkey, salmon, and white fish, plus seasonal variations.I like how each recipe is tailored to small breeds under 20 lbs, with attention to their faster metabolisms and smaller stomachs. The section on setting up your kitchen, understanding supplements, and calculating portion sizes is especially useful. One of my favourite bits is the weekly meal planning system: using a numbered menu for each protein and season makes it easy to stay organised without getting bored.I also appreciate the honest discussion about the risks of home cookingâparticularly the importance of nutritional balance and proper supplementation. It’s a lovely book to dip into when you want to prepare a fresh batch or troubleshoot picky eating. While it wonât suit those looking for in-depth canine nutritional science, itâs a nice, reassuring companion for everyday care.

Good Resource
I like this book. I’ve been homefeeding for almost 30 years, and this is the first book I’ve discovered targeted for small breeds. The meals are simple and uncomplicated with easily sourced ingredients. A major concern I have is the lack of organ meats. Organ meats provide a great deal of nutrients.

It has allergy information, weight management tips, nutrition content tables, ingredient substitution page, FAQs and so much more. Thereâs not anything left not spoken of in this book. The format is super clean and easy to read. The format of the book is very organized. This is going to help me to cook up some meals without having to put so much thought and calculation into the recipes. 10/10 recommend.

This is a cute and lovely book for readers looking to take care of their beloved small dog with healthful meals that are balanced and easy to make. It is well laid out, starting with the foundations ie how to make homemade dog good, basic nutritional principles, setting up your kitchen, and core ingredients. The book then goes into the essential nutrition aspects to consider, including the detailed nutrient requirements, supplementation and feeding guidelines. All this sets the stage for core recipes, including beef, chicken, lamb, turkey and more. I also liked the seasonal variations and troubleshooting sections.

I liked how the meals were made just for small dogs and how the portions were clear and easy to follow. It made me feel good knowing what I was feeding my dog. I just wish there were more different types of recipes. Some felt kind of the same. Still, itâs a nice book if you want to cook healthier for your little buddy.
