The Exo Terra Gecko Cave makes the perfect addition to your gecko terrarium. A secure hide is an essential feature of the natural terrarium. A proper hiding area is often an underestimated and necessary feature of a natural terrarium. Without a safe spot to hide and sleep, reptiles and amphibians will easily develop stress that will affect their activity and appetite. Hideouts also provide a shelter and/or a cooler and moister area in the terrarium. Without a proper hide and sleeping area, geckos can easily develop stress that may affect their well-being and appetite. The natural look of the Exo Terra Gecko Cave can be easily integrated into any type of terrarium, and its sturdy design prevents it from being easily tipped over by larger geckos. The Exo Terra Gecko Cave is also extremely useful as nesting hide for various species of geckos. To create a moist hide just add moistened Exo Terra’s Forest Moss or Sphagnum Moss. Nesting hides should be kept moist at all times.
Over the years, Exo Terra has become the market leader in reptile products for the natural terrarium. This achievement was made possible by the philosophy of successful, continuous innovation, which has become a basic underlying commitment, a culture and an attitude. Exo Terra has developed a complete line of terrariums and terrarium accessories, including glass terrariums, reptile terrariums, frog terrariums, turtle terrariums, snake terrariums, gecko terrariums, bearded dragon terrariums, small terrariums, large terrariums, terrarium humidifiers, terrarium heaters, terrarium thermometers, terrariums heat lamps, terrarium light bulbs, terrarium plants and terrarium decorations.

The only hide my leopard gecko uses!
I got the large hide to use as a humid hide and it works great. I can easily lift the top off to soak the moss whenever it needs it and it holds humidity well I usually only have to spray it down once a week. Ever since I put it in the tank itâs my geckos day hide heâs in there all the time so I decided to get a medium one to use as a dry one so he can choose. I have like 6 other hides in the tank but he only uses this one probably cause itâs more closed off than the others and the top of it is pretty thick so it keeps light out really well. The quality of it is amazing so it should last a life time as long as you donât drop it on a hard surface or anything, and it looks great in any tank setup definitely worth the price.

Big enough for full grown leopard gecko!
First off, my gecko is a full grown, 14 year old male. He’s recently been having trouble lifting his back legs, and it’s most likely the beginning stages of metabolic bone disease (common in some reptiles, but can be prevented with proper care). I used to have a Zilla Medium Rock Layer for him, but that was way too small and cramped for a full grown gecko. And I honestly believe that the Zilla moist hide I was using before is part of what caused my gecko’s back problems too. This Exo Terra Cave is perfect for a COOL, MOIST hide! And it’s spacious inside for my gecko to turn around without hurting himself! If you use it as a moist hide, just be sure to spritz it often as the moisture will evaporate eventually. It’s essential to have 2 caves for leopard geckos, one moist and cool, and one dry and warm. This one traps in moisture so it’s good. Don’t recommend using it for a warm hide though because if you use a heat mat under the tank, it won’t heat all the way through the tank, the substrate, and then the bottom of this cave too so it wouldn’t get warm enough.I love this brand (Exo Terra) because their items are smooth (no sharp edges to file down, nothing to hurt your pets), easy to clean, and the shape of them is very well thought out so that these caves will be perfect for any reptile, amphibian, etc. The lid as shown is detachable for easy cleaning, and easy to spray to keep moist. The Pop Socket in the picture is for size reference. The entry hole is big enough for a leopard gecko and similar sized species. I wouldn’t recommend for a ball python or snakes of that size because the entry is an “O” and the snake may get stuck if it is too big to fit through the hole. Could probably DIY and take off the bottom part of the entry though if you’re careful.Sphagnum Moss is better for this cave, but I’m all out so using moist paper towels for now. It’s awesome, highly recommend it!

Leopard gecko approved!
My leopard gecko outgrew his small humid hide, so I got him this and heâs obsessed with it! I really like how this one is more than the other one. Itâs a totally different brand. He has so much more room in this. Very comfortable for him and more safe than the other one. He likes to climb up on it too. Itâs made very nice and didnât have any smell to it. I put moss in it and damp it with hot water and he loves it!

Big outside, a little cramped inside
I purchased two of the large size Exo Terra Gecko Caves for my two leopard geckos. Initial packaging was okay though the size seems a little off to be considered large. The outside is very smooth and the material has some weight to it which is sufficient for keeping the hide in place and not being knocked around. I set both hides up as a wet hide with a damp paper towel base and damp sphagnum moss covering. The hide does a great job holding in the moister and both Geckos appear to love it. The only downside to this hide is the overall size inside. I was expecting a little more space than what is provided and Iâm already concerned my larger gecko might outgrow it over time. Vertical space is ample though that doesnât make up for the lack of horizontal space on the base.Overall I like it and so do my geckos. I would definitely purchase this product again should the need arise.

Great hide!
It’s my snakes favorite hide! I had to buy two because he refused to go to the warm side. Second one just as good as the first. It’s sturdy high quality and pretty cheap 5/5.

Great for my growing gecko
So my son bought this Gecko and then he moved out and left it for me to take care of. I’m trying to figure it out. So I’ve been buying him some new stuff for his terranium. He has this rock that he practically lives in and hides all the time. The rock is reasonable size but he’s pretty cramped in it so this was the biggest one I could find that is similar to the one that he likes. This thing is three times the size of the other big rock. He went right into it after I put the damp moss in it and I know he has to be 10 times more comfortable in this big one. I’m doing everything I can to try to make this little guy have a life. He’s not very active and I’m trying to make that change by getting him more stuff to do in the terranium. It just kind of makes me sad because I don’t feel like any lizard should have to be forced to live in a terranium instead of their natural habitat. But here he is and we’re going to do the best we can.

I got this hide for my new leopard gecko and itâs perfect to use as a damp hide.Size wise itâs actually smaller inside than it seems and Iâm really glad I got the large. The door to the hide is a good size but is a little way above the ground so if you have a smaller leopard gecko you may want to add a stone or something under it to help them climb them. I have it in a 4ft viv and takes up very little space. Thereâs still plenty of room for my guy though and he seems to be happy enough hiding out in there. The fact that it has a base and the whole of the top comes off makes it perfect to add moss and creat a damp hide for a leopard gecko to help with shedding. Itâs easy to clean and the lip on the bottom of the base keeps the moss in place even when you lift the top off, so you can check it regularly for any mould or mess. The whole hide looks great and really natural and far more attractive than the homemade damp hides Iâve had for other reptiles. It isnât the cheapest hide but itâs really practical and I do think itâs worth the money.Overall Iâm really happy with this hide and would definitely recommend it, especially the large sized one for leopard geckos.
