Excellent for turtle tanks, axolotls, and newts. Ok to use for fish and shrimp.
This works great in axolotl tanks. My ax would push them around his tank. It takes a minute for them to sink, but overall it was easy to use. They are supposed to help filter the water, which didn’t seem to be the case with me, but I kept it clean in other ways. The price was decent as well compared to local pet stores.

Iâve seen a lot of reviews saying it looks like a teddy bears tail was cut off, but obviously this isnât real moss. Others say it floats and I have to agree it doesnât just sink right away, however if you hold it under water and move it around youâll start to see bubbles and itâll eventually sink. Patience is key! As far as replicating a moss ball it looks very nice and high quality in my Bettas 9 gallon tank and ended up sitting perfectly on the wood piece decor as shown. Lately the tanks water had been cloudy and I tried everything from water clarifiers to bio capsule water cleaners and non of those worked! I put the moss ball in the tank a few days ago and within 4 days, the water cleared up noticeably better to the point it looked like I had just cleaned it and put fresh water in. Also the smell of fish water has almost entirely gone away too unless Iâm standing directly over it. The fact these can stay in for months and help keep the water clear makes this highly worth the money for anybody looking for a moss ball either for decor or for keeping the water clear.

These work well but be sure to remember to change them out after the right amount of time has passed based on the amount of water they have to keep clear and not smell.

I made a wise decision to buy 4 because I had a feeling my turtle would tear at the 1st 2 before they were given enough time and a couple of days later it did. They seem to work as intended in that short time but at least I know now to keep the other 2 moss balls out of reach.

Couldn’t tell a difference in water quality after using Exo Terra Moss Ball. They aren’t real moss, they are almost impossible to get to sink, you have to weigh them down or they will just float at the top of the water. They don’t even look that great either. Not impressed, would not buy again

I mean it, you have to purchase two. Itâs okay though because they work and they are pleasant to look at. Look at the results it left in my pond! Before and after pictures below ðThe work they do for the small cost of the product is reasonable. They float and sink as well; maintains its color.
