Great Alternative to More Expensive Brands
I used a python about 20 years ago for all my water changes. After recently getting into the hobby again I decided I wanted to get another one. Then I saw the price. I looked for alternatives and wanted an all metal design as that was always the weak point with the Python. This siphon has worked very well has made water changes easy again. No leaking anywhere when properly tightened, the hose is high quality, and the fittings seem more durable than the plastic ones. The price is excellent as well!

I never leave reviews but feel like this product deserves it. I have 2 aquariums. One 125g and one 65g. My 125g is on a stand which makes the top of the aquarium about 5ft tall. Before I bought this, I used 5 gallon buckets to take out dirty water and then refill with clean water. I did this once a week at an average 25% to 30% water change, sometimes closer to a 50-60% change. It was a huge pain, literally. I have fibromyalgia and lifting the buckets over and over was painful and very tiring. For my 65g I had to use a 1 gallon pitcher. Which was easier than a 5 gallon bucket but still tiring. I got this in April and do weekly water changes in both tanks. It has been a game changer for me. I absolutely love the ease of use and the fact that I no longer have to lift heavy buckets. The kit came with different size fittings to fit to my faucet that then attaches to the quick attach valve fitting that is on the end of the hose. It doesn’t drain super fast but I’m 100% ok with that. When filling back up, it does just fine. I just did a 75% water change on both tanks yesterday and for both tanks it took about an hour to remove and replace the water. The materials are good quality and nothing has leaked. Again this was bought in April with weekly use. So appx 8-10 uses so far. I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase and my fish appreciate it too, much less stressful than the buckets. It’s been life changing for me, especially since when I had to use buckets it took me out for days afterwards because of the pain. If you’re thinking about it or on the fence about buying one, DO IT!!!! It’s def worth it.

Worth the buy
Product worked as advertised. Assembly was simple and the user manual was easy to understand. The instructional video was also very helpful. I was able to perform an 80% water change on a 30-gallon tank within 10 minutes without making a mess. The siphon uses water from a faucet for suction which wastes water. Other than that, I’m very happy with this purchase. Highly recommended. ð

Nearly Perfect – See body for how to make it perfect!
I’ve been using this style aquarium vacuum for more than 2 decades. I’ve used the local pet store brands, I’ve used the Python and the Hygger units. Every one of them has broken or leaked where the venturi generator screws to the faucet. Every one of them. The Hygger lasted the longest, at about 2 years (leaked from day 1, but I used some silicone wrap to control that. When the Hygger broke this week I went on a quest to find one with a metal venturi generator, and I found this Gadfish unit.It screws on directly to the same adapter as the Hygger (and Python), which is great.It comes with an industrial style quick disconnect, which at first seems unnecessary, but the benefit is that quick disconnect allows the unit to swivel at the faucet without pivoting the faucet. Very helpful as the other brands I’ve used all would cause the faucet to pivot and create a big mess.It generates a lot of suction, and works great for water changes and vacuuming small particles off the bottom (I have an aquarium with 1/4″ (6mm) diameter river rock for the floor).There are two things I did to this to make it “perfect”.1. The cleaning tube that comes with it is very short, like about 12″ (300mm). I have a 90gal (340l) tank Fortunately it uses the same diameter hose, so I took the hose and cleaning tube from my Hygger and used that instead. Works perfectly together that way.2. The water discharge flange is very short, which with my faucet/sink combination created a lot of splashing. To solve this, I took an old tailpipe from a sink, and secured it to the discharge flange using a hose clamp. Like Amazon ASIN B003M4R108 or similar with 1-1/2″ hose clamps.Overall very happy with this purchase.

Awesome tool!
Awesome! With 2 caveats – which are easily remedied. Works like a charm, easy to control vacuum. Only problem is the plastic screen on the large tube, which just traps gravel, and the length of the tube, which is too short for large tanks. The fix is well worth it – just replace the 1 1/2 inch OD tube with a longer one – available on Amazon: Polycarbonate Round Tube 1 1/2″ (1.50″) OD x 1 3/8″ (1.375″) ID x 1/16″ Wall x 24″ (More Length Options)

Best buy ever! No more carrying buckets. Water changes are a breeze now. I have a 6â tank thatâs about 680 l and need to change a 1/4 of that every week. With this itâs no stress for the fishes and no carrying buckets for me. Love love love it

This worked really well after i put it together. It is better than my previous one because it has all metal fittings so the eductor will last longer and there is no metal on plastic connection which you never want.All metal fittings also means no plastic parts blowing out as the threads are sharper and solid.A bit of advice also when you set up .After you determine the farthest distance you want to run the hose to then cut the hose off you don’t need because any extra length is friction and will slow your operation down.

This vacuum cleaner is a life changer!, no more painful back breaking carrying of water buckets. Its easy to set up, I had to get separate kitchen tap faucet adapter, as the ones supplied by the company, didn’t fit. Nevertheless, I highly recommend getting this water changer tool

It’s okay and beats carrying heavy buckets all day long.No plastic taps which I love but the diameter of the cylinder and pipework is small.Great for a smaller aquarium but mine is over 800 litres so a touch too small.Bigger cylinder and hose and I would have rated it 4 stars
