Nice simple filter
I recently got the AQUANEAT Aquarium Air Driven Corner Sponge Filter for my small fish tank, and Iâm really happy with it! Itâs super easy to use and set up. The filter works great, providing excellent filtration for my fry and shrimp.I love that it comes with different types of filter media, which helps keep the water clean and clear. Overall, this sponge filter is a fantastic choice for anyone with a nano tank. Highly recommended!

Works as advertised
The HOB filters work better, but this has a use too. In a small bowl or small tank it provides some filtration. I say “some” because it’s really so small and can’t imagine it would handle more than 10 gallons. It is about the size of a small coffee cup. With that said, it does it’s designed job (small bacteria filter that breaks surface of water with bubbles) perfectly. The plastic is brittle so be careful assembling it. I bought 3 and have them all running in a 10 gallon tank because I wanted filters “loaded” for the new 10 gallon tanks I’m making. I ended up adding a small HOB filter too because I am preloading filters to be used on other tanks and letting the bacteria colony establish. For the money it’s a great deal. I suspect 1 in a 10 gallon tank will not be enough for most tanks unless it’s a planted tank. The HOB filter definitely mechanically cleaned the water more and took out small dust particles due to cleaning the tank.

Awesome little filter!
I highly recommend this filter. It’s small, fits beautifully in the corner, and does a heck of a job keeping a small tank clean. My tank was pretty dirty when I put the filter in and it literally cleaned up the water 90% within a couple of hours.I read some reviews saying that the filter doesn’t sink. It does. You just have to make sure the chamber is filled with water, no air bubbles. Took me 2 seconds. It sinks and stays down, no problem. I also took everything out and rinsed with clean water before installing the filter, which I recommend you do too.Overall, an excellent small filter for a great price. Worth it!

It works, buuuuuut…..
First came cracked and had to use some suction cups to keep it down to make the bubbles come out the top with the second. Funny enough, the cracked one worked better… And I surmised this was why:How a sponge filter typically works is to create a negative suction with the air moving up to pull the water into the sponge for filtering. For this, the only opening for the water is at the top. When I had a crack, it also had the usual sponge opening of at the side. I am debating if there is a safe way to make holes… But here is another thing. They have it ordered floss, then fine filter, then course filter, then media… Because the water only comes in the top, at the floss, it is going to the floss first when that should be the LAST filter it goes through. That being said, when I tried to reverse the order, I seemed to have an even harder time keeping the thing down. I may try again at another time. So, why do I give it a four? Because, it does work, is cheap, they sent me a replacement fast, and has a media compartment like I needed for water softening media. It works well in a small tank, and is easy to use. I just feel like it has some improvements that could be made like having the vents nearer the bottom of the filter so that the water isn’t going through the floss first.Edit: After replacement of all the parts in the sponge, it is staying on the gravel. Seems a broken, sinking neck piece was causing the issue. I also have decided to go without the little spout ontop. Somehow, it’s a bit quieter that way, more similar to a sponge filter but the bubbles are still on the larger side.. I would assume that the people who want it to have a longer neck like a regular sponge filter would be able to use a small piece of pvc pipe to create a taller neck. Was also able to reverse the sponges and hope this will decrease the issue of the floss taking on all the filtering work. As was, the other sponges were remaining pristine while the floss was well on its way to becoming prematurely clogged up.
Terrible product. Sound is not realistic at all. –
Game changer no more hang on back filters
Works great 24 hours later, and water is crystal clear. Did make my Blackwater tank less dark so it must be good. Check out the flow in the video! I bought both small and large filters.will be switching to these in all my breeder tanks as well as putting one in my large tanks as a bubbler/scrubber. I’m really impressed with the flow on these. Make sure and assemble it correct to get proper flow. If you have trouble with the large unit, the tube probably fell inside. Remove first two medias, and dig the tube out then reassemble. Very happy. Water looks great.

Good for DIY filter
This is better described as a pump powered internal filter. Make sure to flip the sponge order so you have coarse grit on top, then fine sponge, then white polishing pad.Theres a lot of ways to customize the filter. The biofilter can be replaced with matrix but i just left it. The polishing pad can be replaced with purigen or a pantyhose stuffed with peat to lower ph.I also replaced the funnel with a 1/2 inch wide reusable boba straw. The straw was cut at an angle to fit at my desired height. the angled cut is recommended to prevent clogging. This allows the output to sit above the water line This mostly eliminates the bubbling noise also creates flow. My tetras love it.The filter was just OK out the package, but with my additions I love it.

they either lie about the size, floats
(itâs up to you to buy tubing & motor, thatâs not this companies problem)they either lied about the size or intentionally donât include the long plastic tube, making it louder when bubbles rise. it came pre assembled, you need a rock to weigh it down or itâll float. besides that itâs decent for the price. iâll update if thereâs any changes but so far my shrimp & snails donât mind but my betta wouldâve appreciated the longer neck to minimize the disruption cause by the bubbles.
