Pool monitor
Iâm really enjoying this pool monitor so far. Iâve had it for just 10 days, and itâs been working great. The readings are very close to what I get from my local pool store. Iâll share another update in a couple of weeks, but for now, Iâm very satisfiedâespecially considering the great price with the coupon.

Pool PH has to be between 6.5 – 7.3 for this to read chlorine – Most pools target 7.5 for a PH.
So I was hoping for a great easy solution to stay on top of the pool and possibly reduce my weekly visits to the pool shop with this monitor. I went through the process of configuring the device and got everything working but the chlorine reading, it was always 0. So I tried support – which is general Amazon support that has no idea about this device other than what a compute gives them, so that was a waste of time. I worked with it some more and connected it my zigbee hub since it’s a zigbee device. I could read all the reading except chlorine again. Tested pool water with a water strip – all was good. Reread the entire manual – last page Q3 Why is teh residual chlorine value 0? Answer: The PH should be within 6.5 -7.3 and the QRP should be 650 – 750 for the chlorine residual to be displayed properly. REALY – Pools should be kept between 7.4 and 7.6 with an extream of 7.2 to 7.8 according to the industry speicalist. My pool was excatly at 7.5. It seems this was designed for testing drinking water or 7.0 not testing a pool and even if it was, the tolerance for it to work are way to narrow.Update: 8/16/2025 Kactoily Direct contacted me about this device and after sharing some information, I was told this is not one of thier products even though it looks like it. They did agree with me that this device will not meet my needs for monitoring my pool levels successfully.

It replaces those annoying and expensive test strips and drops.
After years of hating those dip, wait and match expensive and wasteful color strips, I heard of this from a friend also with a salt pool. This device awesome and certainly worth having. Simply remove the cap, press the ‘on’ button, dip in the pool and instantly the PPM shows up in the digital read out. What could be more simple.

Worked right out of the box. I didnât have to calibrate it. Primarily bought it for salt level reading and itâs reads less than 100 over what local swim store reads the salt at. Ph is even more accurate. Does what I needed it to do. Less trips to the swim store for water level readings now.

I had tried the Tuya YK-S03 that was accurate for all measurements other than the chlorine so I tried this one hoping it was a newer version. It is the Tuya BLE-YL01 and both are Zigbee. Unfortunately the only readings this one sent were battery power, link quality and PH value. PH was accurate but I need all the values. This one may be a fluke and I may try another one. This one appeared to have been used so I will try a different model I found on amazon.

Chlorine level on this unit far off
I calibrated the unit and the readings are all pretty accurate except the chlorine was way off! See attached photos. Huge difference between .1 and correct reading at Leslieâs of 5.34.Since Chlorine generation in my salt water pool is the most important reading I need, I am going to try and exchange unit or contact manufacturer.

PH and salt concentration, both accurate. Comes with calibration powders. Just add water, and store in 250ml jars for future use. Easy to read, fast responding. So much nicer to get a digital number, rather than a rough color compare strip. I adjust down to about 7.2 as salt water pools tend to rise. When it hits 7.6, I knock it back down again. Allow several hours after a chemical addition before a retest.

The product arrived by mail, not courier, in a crushed box. The unit was obviously repackaged, it contained dead batteries in the unit itself, but included a packet of four batteries. Packaging, inner contents, instructions, were all wrinkled and clearly handled by many people.The instructions are full of serious errors that make it impossible to calibrate the unit. Out of the box, the unit is wildly inaccurate, other than temperature. Performing a factory reset did not improve the situation. Then tried to calibrate the unit.The three testing packets that came with it to create a solution were only for pH; there were no solutions to test for the other measuring functions. The method for recalibrating is so badly articulated in the instructions that it was impossible to start the calibration function. No manner of button pressing configurations, either according to the vague instructions, or anything else, could actually get the calibration process to begin. Since the unit was so inaccurate on pH, there was no way of knowing how bad it would have been on the other measurements.After placing the end in water to test it, only up to the maximum prescribed level, and later laying down the unit, residual water from the testing end ran all the way up the unit into the top where the batteries were, indicating that the unit clearly is not properly sealed or constructed. This unit was NOT submerged any further than the maximum depth, so this was not user error.Overall, was not able to test this unit or even properly calibrate it, rendering it useless.Unit was returned for a refund.
