Good cat litter
I have 3 cats and it works as well as one can hope to help manage odors. I have also used it in an automatic kitty litter box. It works ok for that (the non-clumping feature is key) however it does not desiccate as well as the silica based litter. Still, good for ‘manual’ litter boxes and fairly low tracking. I like the biodegradable aspect of coconut. I have one very picky cat when it comes to litter, and she prefers this to silica/crystal and any other larger/chunkier litter.

Bad.
I wrote a great review at first. Then used the litter for some time and the Charcol or whatever they use for the odor smell started smelling so strong my lungs started hurting insanely. The litter is very very messy. Youâll see it in your bed and everywhere. Then I read that itâs actually toxic if inhaled for over 2 hours. Now I canât breathe and have to go to store for new litter

Light weight
This is the best cat litter I’ve ever purchased. It’s a bit expensive, but well worth it. Will buy again.

Absorbant but cats track it
I really like the absorbancy of this litter and how lightweight it is. My cats liked it as well. I like that it is environmentally safe cat litter, and that it is biodegradable, and renewable. It would be a great litter for kittens and since I foster for the humane society I will be saving it for that since it doesn’t clump. The drawbacks are that because it is so lightweight it gets carried all throughout the house, and it gets smelly quicker than other litters. Only solid waste is easy to scoop, and wet litter just falls apart. It needs to be changed frequently. I would still buy it again to use with very young kittens just learning how to usea litterbox.

What a Mess
There’s lightweight litter and there’s litter that’s way too lightweight. This coconut cat litter belongs in the latter category. We put litter to the depth recommended by the manufacturer in a big, tall box (because we didn’t want this lightweight litter being tossed everywhere by eager diggers). Then we put the box in the room with our six cats’ three regular clumping sand litter boxes to see what would happen. (Knowing the litter was lightweight, we placed this box in a corner so that it wouldn’t slip around too easily.)We were surprised that the litter is dark brown. So were the cats. They all checked it out and one of them peed in it immediately, but in the first hours, the rest stuck to the clumping sand boxes. By bedtime, when we do the last nightly scoop, one more cat had left a pile in the coconut box, and that’s when we discovered what a pain this stuff is to scoop. We have a nice long-handled metal scoop for the clumping litter that has fairly big sieve-holes, but this litter required sifting and sifting and sifting. I finally brought out the scoop I use for tofu litter (we use that kind on the bedroom side of the house since it doesn’t track) and that worked fine, though I’m not keen on carrying that scooper back and forth three times a day.But wait, there’s more! By morning, the coconut litter had been well and truly tried by our guys. It was easy to tell, primarily because the box had flipped over on its side. I’ve found it this way three mornings in a row now. It’s easy to sweep up the litter and put it back in the box, but I doubt the cats like upsetting the box anymore than I like cleaning up after it happens. They are using it for numbers one and two, but not nearly as much as they use their usual boxes, which never turn over if they put their feet on the edges.Does this coconut sand clump? Sort of. We’re finding little balls instead of big clumps, and the good news is it is absorbing urine — we aren’t finding wet spots on the bottom of the box. The litter is holding up in that regard. We scoop a minimum of three times a day, usually more — it’s easier to just swoop in and do a quick scoop when you pass through the room then to let things “pile” up. We aren’t noticing any new odors, good or bad.Another thing I dislike about dark litter is that if there’s something “fresh” in the box, it’s harder for a cat to see and he or she may accidentally step in it. None of us wants that, so this litter is a big nope for me. I look forward to running out of it!

I really wanted to love this
I want a litter thatâs good for the environment, non clumping, and keeps smell under control. Unfortunately this litter isnât working in the odor control department. It was delivered 10/20, put in the box on 10/21 and today, 10/24, Iâm cleaning out the box and putting the remaining half of the litter in. I have 2 cats and 1 has CKD and pees a lot. So maybe it will last longer for others. It does track but tracking has never bothered me. I didnât do a gradual litter change – they used it immediately. Itâs so lightweight that I can handle the litter changes on my own. No dust. If I could afford to buy a bag every 2 weeks, I would.

I really wanted to like this
Was delivered on 5/13 and it is 5/19. Already had to change the litter three times. The last time I changed it was last night and the scent is literally all over my house. This product is horrible at scent control. My whole house smells like cat pee right now.
