The origin of the hygger brand?
Coinciding with the announcement of the Oxford Dictionary’s Word of the Year, the Danish word ‘hygge’ caused a Nordic trend. hygge is generally translated as “comfortable cosy”. hygger is derived from hygge. This filter is perfect. For years I bought those replacement filters for my S10 and felt so wasteful. This filter hardly needs cleaning, and when it does, it takes 5 minutes. It hardly makes any noise while in use too!! I have the spout above the waterline to increase ocygen flow in the tank. Amazing!

I like them but there are drawbacks.
I have two of these on my betta tank. They do a really good job of keeping the water quality great. They come with two sets of sponges so you can swap a clean one out for a used one to get the used one clean. They run off the air pump and will be as aggressive as your air pump is strong. My betta is in a 10 gallons with two of these on one strong air pump and my water quality is great. Make sure you donât remove both sponges at once because itâll wreck your bio filter 🙂 change them out one at a time so the new sponges can establish bacteria before the swap of the next one.Pros:1. The biological filter is strong and keeps the tanks in great water condition2. It creates movement and airflow in tank which is good for fish, even for fish like bettas who donât require it, can benefit from them.3. My betta loves them and likes to swim around and hide in them.4. Comes with the bio filter media and extra sponges.Cons:1. I have noticed that the worms for my beta get sucked in very easily and clog the filters. Then I have to remove the sponges to dislodge the worms. Flake based food doesnât do this, it just seems the dried worms do.2. Algae can grow on the sponges and affect their usefulness. Keep an eye on them.Also remember this requires an air pump it doesnât come with. Choose the air pump carefully because a lot of them are quite loud.

Works well, large enough for a 55 gallon, too big for a 20 gallon.
When I bout this 4 months ago I had a 20 Gal tall. It worked well for it, but it was very large in that little tank. I’ve since upgraded to a 55 gallon, which is what is pictured. The tank is still a work in progress, but I wanted to use it to show how big the filter is. In my 20 gallon it was my only filter (I vacuumed the gravel a lot). This tank was given to me by a friend who had all these other filters so I added it along with them. I did not clean the filter in between tanks, and used as much of the water from the pervious tank as I could. It’s been a week and my API test kit is showing zero ammonia, zero nitrites and 40ppm nitrates. This being said obviously the filter did it’s job when it comes to holding bacteria. I’d recommend it, but maybe not for a 20 gallon due to its size. It did take up the whole side wall which is where I had it at first.

Cleared my tank literally within an hour. I just had a lot of debris from new gravel, water change and cleaning (all within a span of months) I kept waiting for my tank to clear up and give it time (lost no fish) but nothing changed so finally ordered this filter and boom clear! Love it so much!

Itâs a decent pump
I bought this based on the great reviews, but unfortunately it was not powerful enough for my 29 gallen tank. I added an additional pump to help. It gets dirty within days of cleaning it. (Very dirty)I think this filter would be perfect for a smaller tank or maybe even one with less fish.I do however like that I donât have to worry about a cartridge every month.

AMAZING FILTER!! GO TO AQUAMOTIV SITE AND SAVE MONEY THOUGH!!! SAME BRAND FOR 17$!!! love that you can filter media through it with a sponge filter!!! absolutely amazing design! creates an amazing flow in your water too! kind of difficult to assemble but i think it was just me being off a 10 hour shift lol. definitely not the greatest plastic but who cares they work!! comes with two extra sponges too!

I really like this filter and I’ve been using it for about a year now. I like that I am able to put some crushed coral in it as well as the bio media. It’s just a great filter. No problems

I bought this for my axolotl tanks. No issues at all. I feel like the flow/suction isn’t as strong so I wonder if the capacity would be correct. I love that it has 2 types of filtration. The sponge has ridges which creates more surface area and comes with 2 extra sponges. I would buy this again but would probably choose the higher capacity next time.

I have had many filters in my time of 30 years, this has to be one (the only) filter that works amazing. My spouse does not like cleaning the fish tank and most filters need cleaning often in order to work. With This filter, he cleans the sponges ever three months. He cleans the tank ever 6 months . Great suction and pulls all the dirt particles into the sponges. They clean easy when it comes to cleaning the machine. Would be nice if it would come with a cleaning brush. I use a small bottle brush.It works so good I bought another one for my smaller tank. Best filter ever! I will never buy any other ever again. Great product.
