Squirrel proof bird feeder
Update on 04/26/25… I updated to 5 stars. After talking to customer service and asking just for the small plastic parts to be replaced, today I received a complete new bird feeder! Fantastic service that I needed to let everyone know about dealing with this company! I originally gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because the feeder arrived with 2 of the perch covers cracked and broken. They are plastic covers which screw onto the ends of the perches and are necessary to prevent the perch from falling out of the tube. I am thinking that the only way this damage was done at the factory was that someone didn’t tighten them and they came loose and broke during shipping. However I called the Kingsyard customer phone number and explained that all I really needed are 2 of these plastic covers. They were very polite and took the information about the Amazon order number and which bird feeder I purchased and said they will process the claim within 24 hours. I received an email from them the following morning and they said that they are sending me a new bird feeder. I’m impressed with their customer service! The feeder looks like it will be very similar to another that I have and will keep the squirrels from stealing all the seed. I like the way the top cover get secured onto the handle and will not be able to be destroyed (I hope) by the pest squirrels!

So far the feeder is good and bad. If the situation improves I’ll update the review. I bought this when our regular feeder broke and this had 5star reviews – but those reviews were for free product. The Good – the White wing doves and Starlings are frustrated as hell. The Bad – the little birds don’t understand they have to go inside the cage. They cling to the outside and try to stretch to the feeding holes. The littlest ones prefer to cling to the outside and peck spilled seeds from the bottom tray. The wrens and sparrows are intimidated hy the cage and fly in circles around the feeder and are now trying the woodpecker’s suet cake. The cardinals and titmouse havent been areound since i put it up. The column of food has gone down perhaps 1/4 inch and with the old larger tube feeder the column of seed would fall about 3 inches a day. If things don’t improve by the weekend I’m returning this and fixing the old one.

Cage bird feeder for small birds
Cage over the feeder helps keep larger birds from reaching seeds. Cage could be wider to help keep big birds out completely and allow small birds inside. Good heavy construction a d easy to fill

Keeps out squirrels but perches fall apart frequently
This bird feeder did serve the primary purpose I was hoping for (keeping out the bully birds like Starlings etc) BUT some of the other reviews were right; the perchâs come off frequently. Itâs very annoying to have to fix them nearly in a weekly basis. I donât feel that is something you should have to do with a quality bird feeder, especially considering the price they charge you.

not blue jay proof at all
This bird feeder is attractive, easy to fill, and the “little birds” (goldfinches, titmouse, chickadees, etc.) didn’t take long at all to figure out how to eat from this new feeder. Our cardinals never could find a way. We bought it to deter the blue jays and that didn’t work for us. In less than 2 hours, the bullying group of blue jays showed up (we have 8 to 10 of them that have chased all the songbirds away) and figured out how to just hang on the side and stick their heads through the holes and stay there to continuously eat.
