Good quality and well designed feeder.
This is a nicely made feeder. The upper and lower plates are metal, and the center tube is acrylic. The lower plate has several holes to drain water if it rains. Assembly is required but tools are not needed. Assembly took less than 5 minutes and amounted to sliding the two halves of the acrylic tube together and then attaching the parts to a center threaded rod. This feeder is fairly small – the center tube is measures about 7″ tall and 3-1/4″ in diameter – so frequent refills will be needed. The 4 holes in the bottom of the acrylic tube are nicely sized; they are easily large enough for sunflower seeds and peanuts to pass through. The top of the feeder locks into place on the hanging cable using a push-button clamp; this makes it easy to open for refilling yet secure enough to keep the squirrels from spilling the contents. The hanging cable is fairly long; a nice feature is that its cable length can be adjusted just by loosening two small screws in the clamping sleeve. I really like the quality and the design seems to be very robust. The price seems a bit high for the overall size of the feeder, but it is reasonable compared to prices at local stores.

    Bird Feeder
Nice looking bird feeder. Holds about 4 cups of bird food. Easy to assemble and looks sturdy but I’m not sure how sturdy it actually is because I hung it from my offset umbrella (just to see how it would look and try to figure out the best place to hang it) and then absent-mindedly left feeder hanging and left the umbrella open when high wind was predicted. Wind lifted the umbrella and threw it across the yard. The bird feeder was tossed in a different direction and the hanging cable was snapped off the feeder. The feeder was not broken upon impact, and was just broken apart on the ground. It could have been reassembled but the hanging metal cable snapped at the top of the feeder and it can no longer hang. There is a metal eyelet that is clamped to the end of the cable inside the feeder to keep the cable from slipping through the hanging hardware, and the eyelet came off in all the turmoil. I know this is mostly user error but I also think with all the plastic parts that didn’t break, I was disappointed that the steel cable was the weakness.

Solid design! Love this bird feeder!!
Super simple to assemble and it looks great! The metal lid, base, and hanging wire are sturdy and rust-proof. What I really appreciate about this design is the push clasp that allows you to pull up the roof to add seed, and then secure it closed easily with one hand. The base tray and seed dispenser are a good size to fit larger seeds, nuts as well as dried mealworms. I’m very pleased with this feeder and so are the birds. It’s also very simple to clean. Just a heads up that when I was washing the the acrylic tube, I realized it actually had a temporary protective film on it. Once you peel it off, it’s even clearer!Note: I only give 5 star ratings for items that exceed my high expectations in quality, value, functionality, and product description accuracy. Although I received this product as part of Amazon’s Vine program, my reviews reflect my own unbiased opinions to help others buy with confidence.

Well built and cute bird feeder
This bird feeder is great for bird lovers of all kinds. It comes in parts that you have to manually put together, which was a bit different since I’ve never had to build one of these types of feeders before – but setting it up was very simple and only took about 3-5 minutes. It feels sturdy and like it could withstand some major pecking lol. It is a nice, sleek design and looks good in my yard. It’s super simple to clean, being able to remove the top and wipe it out is nice. It doesn’t do much to keep squirrels away, so make sure to put it in a secure spot they can’t easily access.

Lip under feeding windows can catch small seed to rot and spoil. Lid slides up wire great tho.
This could have been great. A nicely made, simple feeder in one of the most common styles. There are a few issues that outweigh its benefits, and leave me feeling that it should be avoided.Putting it together isn’t a problem if you read the instructions, but really, who wants to assemble a bird feeder when 99% of them are already assembled. The top works perfectly if you put it together properly. It’s the feeders greatest positive feature; being able to slide the lid up the wire and have it held in place there so you can pour seed in without wrestling with it or having to use two hands. The reviewer who rated this 1 star for having to twist the feeder top off didn’t assemble it correctly; it’s a shame they left that review because it’s misinformation. The feeder viewing area being split in two is unfortunate appearance-wise, but doesn’t detract terribly. Taking the two pieces apart for cleaning is an important benefit, especially considering its pitfall. If you look at the openings for the birds to eat, the bottoms of these little windows aren’t flush with the tray. They have a raised lip, which I suppose is to keep seed in. I don’t know how; once you fill the chute seed will pour out of the holes. It’s the nature of the design. The problem with providing this lip is it will keep some seed stuck inside, under the opening. Mrs Aloha Friday tried to show you this in the photos. Rain will add moisture there and you’ll end up with dirty, rotten seed stuck in the base. If you aren’t careful to clean this out regularly, it will contaminate the rest of the clean seed. This is a huge problem in my book as someone who feeds birds daily. Cleaning poorly designed bird feeders is a pain in the rear. The best feeders require little to no maintenance. The openings themselves are rough and could use smoothing. If I decide to keep this and not donate it, I’ll probably sand them down. I’ll also use a cutting or soldering tool to open up the bottom of the openings up and remove the lip so nothing catches. Or, I think the alternative is to use black oil sunflower seeds. The shells should keep the seeds from spoiling, and they’re large enough to slide out easily (or be grasped by squirrels) without the little lips stopping them. Unshelled peanuts might work as well. A large seed or nut that doesn’t get stuck under that lip is probably the best solution. The tray that catches the seed has holes in it for drainage, good thing. But some of the holes are large enough for millet and other small seeds to spill out, bad thing. If you’d like to feed mourning doves, who are ground feeders, then the spillage is okay if you can contain the millet for them. We have a little brick patio our bird feeders hang over for this purpose. You can also use a pan on the ground, etc. Still, several more small holes would have been better. There is easily removed plastic film on the acrylic tube pieces. They’re crystal clear after removal.I sure do love the top. I wish I loved everything else, but I know after feeding birds for 16 or so years, now buying 50 pounds sacks of seeds and nuts at a feed store, what a good feeder looks like, and I’m afraid this is just not it.
