If you worry about mess, go for a mix without black oil sunflower seeds and corn
Good quality seed, not dusty, birds come to eat it, always arrives in good condition, but it’s not my ideal blend.I’m sure this blend is great for people who don’t mind sunflower shells (and corn) all over the ground, but I definitely do, and so do my neighbors. I was constantly having to go out and clean up black oil sunflower seeds (some whole that had been knocked out by my finches) and the corn (which the birds seemed to not care about when there were sunflower meats to be had). It was causing me stress and annoyance.I switched to Cole’s Finch Friends mix (with sunflower meats and thistle seed only) and all these problems resolved. All the same birds come by but they don’t leave black and orange mess all over my pavement.

I work at a nursing home and I bought some bird seed to put in a feeder outside one of the residents’ room who was feeling depressed. A lot of birds loved the seeds and it emptied out pretty quickly. Good quality bird seed!
