We like this vintage bird feeder. I appreciate that it is made entirely of metal and is a bit heavier than I expected. My girlfriend prefers easy refilling for the bird feed; she doesnât have to remove it to add seed. It holds a large amount of feedâits advertised capacity is 5 lbs. Unfortunately, some of the smallest grains fall through the metal mesh. The perches are a little small in our opinion; the larger birds donât feed on this one, which we guess is great for the smaller ones. Once a bird lands, it causes the entire feeder to tilt and sometimes turn. Sometimes they even fall off. Itâs a bit amusing to see how the birds manage to stay on the feeder when it is moving.

i am not sure if it is the birds, or the design, but no matter what the bird seed ends up al over the ground and attracts thousands of ants and a bunch of mice. I don’t mind nature being in my yard, but it is not fun seeing expensive bird seed scattered and then not eaten by the birds…just being carried away by the ants and mice.This feeder does stay in the tree, even during windy days. it is secure, and easy to fill…which is a good thing since you hve to fill it up every day.

Large attractive bird feeder is a great find
I love this bird feeder as it is pretty and it has a large capacity to hold seeds, up to 5 pounds. It feels well made and heavy duty, made of iron and I love the copper washed color which the seller states is a rust proof coating. To fill, you just lift up the top of the feeder and pour. Easy peasy!There are perches for the birds to rest on around the entire perimeter of the feeder and 8 drainage holes to prevent water from building up which helps keep the seeds somewhat fresh. The sides are a mesh design which allows some air flow which will also help keep the seeds dry and fresh. There is a metal hanging hook which seems fairly strong. The seller info states there is a squirrel proof buckle on the top which is a secure locking mechanism that prevents squirrels from opening the feeder and having a feast. I haven’t seen any snacking squirrels yet!This feeder is a great value and it is pretty. The only downside is that when it is full, it is fairly heavy so you need to have a secure pole in the ground to hang it on or it could tip over. I have only been filling it half way to make it easier for myself. The birds are pretty happy and stop by to snack all day.
