Works as advertised! Bright, powerful light with a very sturdy, adjustable base. I have mine on the rim of a 20 gallon tank and it seems pretty secure. The shimmer effect is awesome, and the light can be adjusted to lower brightness levels and it will remain there is used with a separate smart timer. Works great!

Hygger remains my go to for reasonably priced, no frills, aquarium equipment. This light falls squarely in the âdoes what you want it toâ without adding remotes, apps, or built in timers. There is one button to turn it on, pressing it again cycles it through the different intensity settings and the best part is it works with third-party timers without âforgettingâ the power setting it was just one. This is a huge positive since I place all my aquarium appliances on my own wifi timers.I used this on my 55-gallon rimmed tank. If you have a 55g+ tank, I would get two of these (I would get 2x55W lights) for even coverage based on the length. The 75W light will still give complete coverage for your tank, but if you are growing medium-high light plants you will need to place them beneath the light and keep the low light plants on the periphery.This light has no issue with light penetration. At 100% power it blasts the bottom of my tank with light and I have a 55g (freshwater) tall. However, the best part is the shimmer effect this light gives your tank. Itâs amazing and on par with major name brand lights that go for 2-3x the price you see in display tanks.Setup is easy and the materials are aluminum and donât feel cheap (light housing is plastic). This will work on a rimless or rimmed tank. However, the mounting bracket and screws are bulkier compared to lower profile brands. If you are building competition level rimless display tanks this likely wonât suit your needs, but for 99% of the aquarium hobbyists this will not stand out in your tank.Very impressed with this light and I expect this to be as reliable as my hygger heaters and bar-lights. The 2-year warranty also matches or exceeds what other name brands offer.

I’ve had the pleasure of using a variety of Hygger aquarium products and consider them to be reliable in build quality and function, often with innovations that elevate them above other brands. This 75W grow lamp is no exception.Highlights include:Even illumination with an effective color spectrum, both for growing plants and for showing off fish colors as vibrant and natural.A good flood light, as a result of the almost spherical lens producing a wide 120° illumination angleThe ability to highlight the water’s surface, a location where many emergent aquatic plants show outstanding foliage, and even bloom.Smart architectural styling with the flying saucer shaped lamp suspended by a tubular boom, all in a matte black finish.Partially hidden cord.Variable light position according to the user’s preference. It can be placed close to the water’s surface or as much as 20″ above it, potentially illuminating a radius of 40″ at the aquarium surface! Horizontal distance from the mount is about 8.5″ to 14″. The boom rotates freely for optimal positioning. Both vertical and horizontal positions are fixed with tiny set screws.Mount compatibility with tank glass as thin as 3/32″ and as thick as an inch or more.Cons:The actual mount dips into the tank about 1 1/4 inches. The mount contains no electrical parts so it’s not a hazard in that sense but I think most users would prefer to keep it out of the water, meaning that the maximum fill line would be about 1 1/2 inches below the rim of the tank, maybe lower if a wave maker is in use.What modifications/improvements I would like to see from Hygger:Smaller versions of this lamp for smaller tanks.Possibly a variable angle of illumination.Additional mounting options, possibly including options that are entirely free of the aquarium, making it possible to suspend the “flying saucer” shaped lamp from the ceiling or stabilize it with a heavy base adjacent to, rather than fixed to, the aquarium.

Perfect for a freshwater grass aquarium
This light has helped my freshwater grass aquarium really take off and grow much quicker than a regular LED tank/plant light. Itâs made of high quality metal and is easy to assemble. They have also designed the stand so that it hides the cord which gives it a much better look. Itâs sturdy and durable and can fit on any tank with the attachments that are included. In just one week there was noticeable growth in my tank and after two weeks it was looking like itâd been growing for months. The light gives off strong beams that make the water look extra clear and bright. It has a full spectrum LEDS for plant growth and there are 5 brightness settings. The power cord I also very long. Game changer for our planted guppy tank
I really, really love the way this light makes our planted guppy tank look. The colors in our fish are brighter than anything we’ve seen with other light hoods. They just pop now, beautiful. It was very easy to set up and fit our rimmed 55 gallon tank just fine. I will probably order a second one at some point, but for now we are just using it to light up half the tank, and giving the fish the other half to escape the brightness if they want too. It does put off some heat, and I was surprised the first time I heard the internal fan kick in and start running. It’s very quiet, so it was barely noticeable when I was feeding the fish and my face was near the light. Price is a bit higher than I would normally spend, but I’m converted now…it’s worth the money just because of how much it changed the looks of the tank and the room.
