My HUGE cat loves to climb this but he does NOT fit on top.
This was pretty easy to build & is made really well! Super impressed by the quality of it & the cat LOVES it. BUT the top is not big enough for a large cat to sit on. It is actually about a 5″ across. My cat is 13.6 lbs of muscle so he is waaayyy to big to sit on it BUT I knew that when I bought it. I installed it about 12″ off the ground & stretches out full length (Trust me that is a LONG length) to scratch. He also climbs it & it is super secure. MAKE sure you have at least one screw on each end in a stud in the wall or it may pull out of the wall.I cannot say enough about how well made this is. The tools to make it come with it (except the drill, of course, ya need your own drill 🙂 ) BUT there is plenty of good quality hardware & an Allen wrench. MOST EXCELLENT!!!Update: 6 months later & going strong. My cat 11 lbs starving stray is now a healthy & sleek 15.2 lbs & 39 inches long from the tip of his tail to the tip of his nose. He is HUGE & VERY strong & LOVES this scratch post. It is the only one I have found that is long enough & secure enough for him to use. I put toys on top & he climbs up it & knocks them off to play with. That way BOTH his back & front claws shed. (The reason cats scratch is that they shed their outer claws – kinda like snake skin. So, their claws get really long & can snap off to the quick if they don’t scratch. Just like our finger nails if we don’t trim them. )

    Fantastic, highly recommend
I have had this for nearly two years now, my cats still love it. They’ve shredded it, and I’m writing a review because I am likely to order another one soon. Assembly is easy, my cats /love/ to scratch on it. Functions exactly as you would hope, with a strong pillar for them to really dig their claws into it. And it is not ugly!

Great fun but, plan layout very carefully!!
Packed well. Good quality. Our cat loves this set up! But, here’s the thing. Installation is tricky. The instructions are perfect. Super instructions to follow. The wall studs have to be set apart a perfect amount or it’s gonna be tricky setting it up. My husband, an engineer, spent hours mapping this out, marking it off with blue tape, drawing different configurations on paper so that Alvin and Tuck had the best layout possible. He doesn’t even like cats but, he likes our daughter and well she loves cats. Alvin was her first cat. From a rescue. But after six weeks he started crying LOUDLY every time Ava left her room. So the only remedy I could think of well, was to get Alvin his own rescue cat. Enter Tuck. So now we have Alvin and Tuck the rescue cats waiting for their jungle gym to be installed on the wall. As smart as my husband is, he was not smart enough to get a stud finder to be sure that this 5 hour lay out plan was actually going to work. Well, it didn’t. The studs were not the typical 16” or 18” apart whichever it is and I heard two foul words come out of that room so I had to go make sure everything was alright. It was a busy day for me and I had a long list of stuff to do so I should have just gotten in my car and drove off and pretended I never heard him. But, I’m nosey and way too curious so there I went. As soon as I opened the door he says thank goodness I need your help. I said I have stuff to do and he lied right to my face and said I only need about 20 minutes. Well being that he’s doing this for our daughter and for two cats that he says he doesn’t like, even though he picks them up and talks to them, I figured I’d be a good wife and help. Now because of the studs in the wall being different spaces apart that 20 minutes turned into 4-1/2 hours plus a lot of arguing back and forth. I don’t know how many hours in all it took in all to get this together but, once we did Alvin loved it. Tuck doesn’t have an opinion yet. I do know Mark was up onto the late hours of the night (late to me is anything past 8:30 pm so you judge if you agree with my statement) getting this finished. Now here’s where the careful planning comes in. Hah you thought it was just the layout right? No but, while that’s important we are about to go in a different direction. A totally different direction. See after it was installed after the entire fiasco we went through about two weeks later a house with a huge detached garage and a big in law apartment (perfect for the grandkids to have their own gaming suite) came on the market. He had said often if that house ever goes up for sale we are buying it. So we have the real estate agent come talk to us. She’s sold three houses for us now and she’s practically family and we call her Susan with the silver shoes because obviously she wears silver shoes. So she’s going through the house looking at all the beautiful upgrades we have made and then gets to Ava’s room. Where she says “oh my gosh, what in the world is this???” It was the cats jungle gym. She says this has to go and the walls patched perfectly and repainted. So….. that Saturday my sweet engineer husband took down the cat jungle gym and filled the holes and painted the walls and poor Alvin looked devastated. Mark did so much mumbling I decided to not even open the door and see what he was saying. Now we are moved and he’s about to start working on the layout of this cat jungle gym again. But, he’s bought some fancy stud finder so hopefully it goes a little smoother this time.

    My kitten LOVES this!
I have wanted a cat wall for some time. I finally bought the hanging scratcher. This one has a larger diameter than the others and it is very sturdy! I took the suggestion of others and bought the metal heavy duty anchor toggles. I also used 10×2 1/2 inch deck screws. The unit looks really nice and does not look clunky or weird. There is no odor and the installation was super quick. It helps to have a stud finder etc. I have a 4.5 month old kitten that had been abandoned and in need of emergency medical care. As you can see from the pics she’s thriving 😊 In time, I plan on adding more pieces.

    Need a replacement post
Great product. One question though… Where do I find , to purchase, a post replacement? My cat has petite paws but large claws. This post is perfect for her and she can even get a good stretch while scratching the post.

    Best wall scratcher!
This thing is fabulous! Seriously just get it. My cat immediately took to this scratcher (and the accompanying cat wall we set up with it). She can get a full stretch on this, scramble up and down, sit on it, and even scratches downward while sitting on top.The bare top is slippery though, so we added grip. We got three free carpet samples from a hardware store, duct tape them together on the bottom and then added velcro. Bam, perfect little grip. Also I would recommend getting toggle bolt anchors for this instead of the anchors that come with it. Unless you have a stud to drill into, the toggle anchors will work in your drywall and support this scratcher and your cats no problem. They will require a 1/2″ hole to install, but it’s easy to spackle over if you’re renting like we are and no worries about the scratcher failing under weight!

The scratching post seems quite sturdy, and was easy to assemble and install. I appreciated that all the tools were in the box, albeit for mounting on drywall, other hardware is required. I had some toggle bolts at home, and the bolts happened to fit into the pre-drilled mounting holes perfectly. The packaging is minimal – I was a bit surprised seeing the size of the box – I thought maybe I bought the wrong size!It took only a few minutes to assemble. Mounting on the wall took a bit of time, just to get the drill out etc.The post is made of two cylindrical pieces wrapped in rope, held on two ends by bolts recessed into the wood mounting plates. I can see how it will be straightforward to replace a tube when the rope gets worn out.I attached a small toy to the top bolt with a piece of string, and sprayed a tiny amount of catnip spray to help my cats familiarize themselves with the post. The cats seem to have taken a liking to it, I’ll try to update with a photo at some point. I’m extremely happy with it – being able to wall mount the scratching posts is a huge space saver in a small home. I’ll likely purchase another to install upstairs.

The cat post went together easily and was sturdier than I expected. The wood pieces are solid wood with a smooth clear finish. I am super happy with it. It was a bit stinky when it first came out of the package but a few days and that smell was gone. My one cat is using it daily.

I like Fukamaru products — they look nice and feel solid. However, the screws provided are garbage, and the placement of the screw holes for securing the furniture to the wall could be much better. Some screw holes are in awkward spots that make it hard to get the screws in tightly. This item was actually straightforward to secure to the wall. This item was actually straightforward. Just got this item and unsure how it will hold up.
