First time using something like this, more complicated than I expected
Review of Infrared Temperature Gun from HABOTESTComplicated if you’re not used to infrared temperatures – I have a small infrared thermometer and I love it and use it frequently. One button, point and take the temperature. Unfortunately, it only goes a bit past 100°F so I was looking for something more useful when I stumbled on this. My previous one had a single button, but this one does ambient temperature, humidity, and more. Since the instructions aren’t written in the clearest English, I’ve been having some trouble figuring out how to use this. Yes, I can point and click and get a general idea of temperature, but I’m going to struggle on until I figure out how to use it properly.Seems slightly inaccurate – Maybe this is my misunderstanding of how infrared thermometers work, but if I have two things in a room that has been at a constant temperature all day, shouldn’t the two objects be at that same temperature? I’ve been going around and measuring all sorts of things in the same room and no two are at the same temperature or at the ambient temperature. I suspect it might have something to do with the emissivity of the objects, but I don’t know enough about how to properly set that to fix my problem. There’s a whole chart of emissivity of various materials in the instructions, but not everything I have tried to take the temperature of is included.Point & take your reading – This does seem very easy to use if you only need a general idea of how hot something is. I wanted this for, among other things, a solar oven and other cooking-related uses. In a solar oven, the temperature doesn’t need to be very accurate so it should work just fine for that.I am taking off one star because I do believe the readings are a bit off. Even when I choose something with a listed emissivity and set the gun for that, it’s a bit off. Overall, I’m thrilled to have this and will be using it a lot, but I wish I had one that I could trust was truer to the actual temperature.

Compact and Accurate
It took a little while to get the hang of it, but this is a very nice infrared thermometer. It is smaller than I thought it would be, but it fits nicely in my hand.The included instructions are a bit sparse and, not having ever used an infrared thermometer before, I was confused as to the purpose of the emissivity setting. After a quick internet search I found that it is simply the measure of infrared energy radiated from an object and apparently most organic materials have a emissivity ratio of 0.95, which is the default setting on this unit. It is nice that you can adjust this setting if needed.We use it primarily to check the temperature of our pizza stone and it works very well. It uses two AAA batteries, which were included, and it has a laser feature (which can be toggled on or off) so that you can see exactly where you are pointing the thermometer. You can also display the temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius.I would recommend that when you first install the batteries that you allow the unit to sit until the ambient temperature display is correct…I started using the unit immediately after installing the batteries and I got some very strange readings. However, after letting it sit for about 1/2 hour so that the ambient temperature reading on the unit matched our indoor temperature, it was fine.

Seems off by 3 Degrees
I have 2 other thermometers over by the one AC air vent. One is reading 67 and the other 68. This in came in at 65. Sad part is my AC is set to 75 AND 2 rooms away. So I thought this would help me get an accurate answer on the temp coming out of the AC vents. It seems off by about 2-3 degrees.Instructions are easy to follow and it comes with batteries and has a clear easy to read display.

Accurate & easy to use
I got this temperature gun to use with my pizza oven, this temp gun is super easy to use, you can select a certain number code for different types of surfaces and then you just aim and squeeze the trigger, the temp readings are displayed pretty much instantly, the colored LCD screen is easy to see and read, the screen displays the target temperature, the surrounding ambient temperature and even shows the humidity percentage, the infrared beam can cover a pretty large area as well, the temp readings have also been really accurate, I used a different temp gun that I have with this temp gun and the temperature readings were all within a point or two between both guns, overall I am very happy with the quality and performance of this infrared temperature gun, good value for the price in my opinion.

pretty accurate and easy
I make homemade maple syrup, and have transitioned to using this to test temperatures of the boil. It is much easier to use this rather than the old stick-in thermometer that I have always used. I have compared both, and this gun style is just as accurate as the one I used to use. No more navigating hot steam to get a temperature!

For the price, pretty incredible.
I’ll be honest, it feels light and cheap, like a toy, but it is pretty accurate, small and portable. If you aren’t rough with it, then you should get some decent mileage out of it. The battery compartment is also easy to access and requires no tools. I put some rechargeable AAA batteries in mine. They last a while. Haven’t had to recharge them since getting this. It comes with nice features too like manually changing emissivity, a feature I was surprised to see at this price point. For at home and hobby work this thing is great.
