✅ LOOK PRETTY CONVINCING INSIDE AN AQUARIUM; WISH THEY WERE A LITTLE BIGGER THOUGH.
As an aquarist that keeps quite a few planted tanks, I really prefer to avoid using artificial plants in my tanks. However, depending on what kind of fish you keep, you sometimes, do not have a choice on keeping real plants or not. The fish that I keep in this particular tank are herbivores and will literally devour any kind of live plant. I also keep quite a few large predators that can be too boisterous to keep with some plants, as they like to play and be rough. So, any opportunity that I get where I can choose artificial plants that appear as real as possible, I am definitely trying them out!✅ QUALITY: these plants are about the same quality that you can expect from any other artificial aquarium plants. they are held together by hot glue and have the potential to come apart. but that’s exactly what super glue is for. out of the package these held up pretty decently so far. nothing has came off the base, and everything looks to be attached really well. the leaves of the artificial alocasias (elephant ear plant) are made of a silky material, so they’re not plastic like the test of the plant. they have a very realistic appearance, too! that’s one of the things i really love about these. the “wood base” doesn’t look anywhere as realistic but that can be concealed within the substrate. the stems are bendable and might need a little straightening before placing in the tanks, as they come somewhat bend and folded out of place.❌ WEIGHT: these are likely more so intended for use in reptile enclosures as opposed to being in an aquarium, only because the base of the plant, has little to no density to it. it would take burying the base pretty far into the substrate, just to make sure that it doesn’t become surface bound and move around the tank. the way the base is made, as well, doesn’t have a lot of surface to anchor it beneath the substrate. therefore, i had to get innovative, and borrowed a could of heavy fishing weights from my father and used clear fishing line to tie the weights to the base. and therefore pushed and buried the weight into the substrate, anchoring the base of the plant to just a tiny bit below the substrate level (the small plants attached to the base can still be seen, along with a portion of the “wood” base). this helps keep them in place.❌ SIZE: even though, i knew what size they would be upon ordering them, i really do wish that these plants were at least one or two inches larger. the real version of these artificial plants, alocasias, actually get extremely large! they are also, only semi-aquatic plants, so only their roots are able to be immersed in water. therefore, to have the real version of this plant inside of an aquarium, is not realistic whatsoever, if were being technical. but for the purposes of aesthetics, i really wish these had a larger size.✴ OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FIVE STARS ———————————————♡》》》IN SUMMARY: i really like these. despite there being a couple of cons to these plants, i really cannot objectify too much, because these are initially intended to be used in a terrarium, with reptiles! but with me using them in an aquarium, i really cannot be too picky. they appear decently realistic, especially the leaves, since they are made of a silky fabric and flow with the current of the water. i just wish they were a bit bigger in size. they look awesome inside of my tank, and bring a livelier kind of feel, overall. my fish seem to like them, too, as they enjoy hiding behind the leaves. just keep in mind, if you intend to use this inside of an aquarium, you might have to add an anchor or addition weight to the base, to keep them set in the substrate, since the base has virtually no weight and no surface space to keep it buried. ♡
