Scooby loves it
Nice little lamp. Instructions leave a bit to be desired and a good use of imagination but it did what it says. The mounting screws it comes with are TINY. I’d use longer and stronger screws if you are going to mount it into wood. Either way, our dragons lamp died and we needed one. He prefers to lounge on our near his so this is on his back wall but he is a happy dragon. This light is Scooby approved.

Great Light System. Moderate UV.
It looks good, but I’m not sure if it’s putting out enough UV.

Very efficient and attractive light!
This light has a good brightnessâ¦it fits a few different ways, so it can fit many different sorts of enclosures! The light is tough and the bulb is secure. It produces warmth and of course the very important UVB. The timer functions are very easy to use and on the mark!

Works well, will it last?
I have a pair of red eared sliders that summer in our pond but winter indoors in a large water trough. As anyone with reptiles knows, the proper lighting is important and the bulbs being sold by manufacturers today burn out quickly!First, out of the box it appeared rather small and slim, which could be good as long as the lighting is strong. Something to heavy or bulky would not work for a lot of enclosures. The lamp has a few mounting options, some brackets to hang on top of a standard fish tank, screws to surface mount it, or you can simply use zip ties and hang it from something like I did.Now for the important stuff, this lamp is advertised as providing UVA & UVB. In my mind I immediately thought, the clear advantage of this would be not having to change bulbs anymore, saving me money! So, what’s the catch? Does this thing actually emit UV? Well interestingly, it seems like the manufacturer anticipated this question! In the box with the lamp is a UV test card, clever! Since I already had a UV lamp running for the sliders, this sets up a great opportunity to do a comparison test!First, I tested the card against my current UV bulb and after waiting the 10 seconds you could clearly see that the bulb had turned the gecko purple, I guess this indicates the bulb is projecting UV light, great! Testing the card against the new lamp however, the card came back noticeably more affected, showing a much deeper purple. Was my UV bulb just old and less effective? Interesting question, but the end result is yes! If the card is to be believed, this thing is pumping out a lot of UV!The controls of the lamp have a simple on off button as well as a button to decrease or increase how many of the UV LED’s you want on. This is presumably for different reptile applications. It also has a useful 3/6/12 hour timer button, so that the fixture turns off when its bed time for your scaly friendsOne thing to note, I have my old light fixtures plugged into “smart” outlets, so they can be scheduled to turn on and off on their own. The control on this new fixture is digital, meaning it will not work with a smart outlet. Once the light is turned off, you will have to physically turn it back on, it will not come back on automatically. This will also be true if there is a power outage. So the final question is, will the LED’s last? And for how long? At the cost of this lamp, if you can get 2 years or more out of the fixture, then it’s totally worth the cost as it would end up costing less than replacing bulbs over the same period of time. Throw in that it doesn’t need a fixture and doesn’t need to be turned on and off (saving cost), and this becomes a no-brainer. Totally recommended!!
