Best yet!
This is the third Squirrel deterrent I’ve had.It actually works! Its so nice to see birds back at my feeders. I love the blue, it stands out great against the green backdrop around our yard.

Good value for money
Bluebirds prefer this model over another that I spent about three times as much on. I see as many as three bluebirds at a time inside this feeder. The grid is slightly bigger than the other feeder, which seems to work better for the more mature birds.Starlings have some success picking worms that have fallen out of the bowl onto the sheet metal bottom (my other feeder has a wire bottom and worms fall to the ground). The sheet metal bottom requires more frequent cleaning than the wire bottom. If the bowl is full to the brim then the starlings can sometimes reach a worm in the bowl. Generally the starlings donât get much though, due to fighting among themselves and they eventually fly off, at which point the bluebirds and Carolina wrens take over.Filling the bowl is a little more cumbersome than most feeders due to the sheet metal lid and the way the tabs that slide through the lid are configured. The tabs lean in a bit to the center, which helps keep the lid on but means putting a bit of tension on the cage when removing or replacing the lid. The ends of the hanger are inserted into the tabs, so the hanger has to be removed in order to remove the lid. Seems very sturdy and the sheet metal lid prevents precipitation falling on food in the bowl. My other feeder has a wire top and requires a domed squirrel baffle above it to deflect precipitation. This new model is hanging from the eaves and so far I have not needed a baffle even after 10 inches of snow.

Great for smaller birds.
The bluebirds love this and it keeps the larger birds and squirrels out. Like it especially for the inner cup. I use that for dried mealworms for the bluebirds but have discovered other small birds like them too. It is nice to be able to offer a larger variety of food for birds in the New England winter.

I love the appearance!Why did you pick this product vs others?:I chose this initially because it is cheaper than other bluebird specific feeders but its so much more than that! Easy to clean, easy to see the birds while feeding, and its extremely well built. I love it so much we bought another one!

Very well made.
This feeder is very well made and quite attractive. However, the birds in my yard will not go into it to get the mealworms. I feel like the grate is maybe a little too small for the birds I have here. It did, however, keep the squirrels out.

Perfect squirrel proof birdfeeder.
This feeder is such a good size, perfect for small birds. It is very easy to put together and refill. I am having a shoulder replacement and will only be able to use my nondominant hand. I tested it today and am happy to say that I can take it down, get the top off and refill it easily one handed. I can also put the top back on and hang it up. It has no mess seed and mealworms in it now waiting for the first little birds to show up tomorrow!

Great little feeder…my chickadees, nuthatches, sparrows, etc…can safely eat throughout the day without the Blue Jays consuming every seed or peanut within minutes. (Bought the blue one just to irritate them.) They just can’t get a good foothold on the cage or their heads/bodies inside. (At least my marauding New Brunswick Jays can’t because they’re huge.) Great quality for the price. Two thumbs up!

The feeder itself is great – sturdy but lightweight, arrived intact without any scratches or bent parts as some other reviewers have said. Nice color (I got blue) and easy to clean.I’m giving it 4 stars because it did not keep the pigeons out. I love pigeons but they gobble all the feed before the finches and juncos have a chance to eat. The feeder seemed to work well the first few days – the pigeons were wary of it and seemed stumped as to even how to attempt to eat from it. After a couple of days the small birds figured it out and were popping in and out of the feeder as they pleased.Today is day 5 and much to my chagrin a pigeon has figured out if they brace themselves and really, really push/stretch their neck they can reach the feed bowl through the grate. There were a few other pigeons gathering on the deck railing…watching…learning. I could practically hear their little pigeon brains going, ‘coo coo that’s how you doo doo it.’ Foiled again. If the wire grate circumference was just 2 inches further from the feed bowl, this would have worked.

The bird feeder is well made, arrived promptly, I would give it 5 stars except I have not yet used , so do not now if small birds will actually enter the cage or will be frightened of getting trapped.
