It’s just like real moss. Handle it as such, and you will be impressed with the quality!
I don’t understand some of the negative reviews for this item. It is an amazing replica of real moss, and the value is way beyond what I was expecting to receive for the cost. I have an outside setup for my water turtle. I put this on her second level where she likes to sunbathe and as decor in other areas just to make it pretty. This artificial moss is soft and FULL. I had to go back and look at the listing again because I couldn’t believe it’s fake! There are zero gaps on this mat, and it stays together even after cutting to size. It functions better than it should, and I am really impressed with how great it looks. I don’t think commenting on the ability to clean it is fair because you can’t clean moss (and everything about this mat replicates REAL moss (feel, texture, looks). Moss is very thin and comes apart easily when handled. The backing provided to hold the moss together does its job well – which is surprising considering how hard it is to attach moss to ANYTHING. If you experience the moss coming apart from the backing, it’s likely because you haven’t handled moss before and aren’t being extra super careful with it. You have to treat it like the real stuff. I especially love the mix of color and texture within the moss. It provides great dimension which makes her tank look amazing and also gives her the traction she needs to move up and down the different levels easily (don’t use on ramps that go into the water though). Moss is mossy. Unless it’s simply on display and not being touched at all by you or your pet, it’s going to fray, loosen, and shred same as real moss does. A must buy to give your pet’s flooring the texture they love and decorate enclosures or multi-level tanks.

Looks beautiful until it falls apart
I love my beardie’s cage to look green and forest-y so I was so excited to see this carpet but the greenery quickly started falling off. When my beardie would dig, it would just come apart and I had to replace it with something that looked boring but wouldn’t be torn apart by my bearded dragon.

Not worth the mess
Messy! This stuff looked really neat and I thought it would be a great addition to our terrarium. It was the worst. It does look good and I think the lizard likes it. It sheds and leaves little pieces everywhere. I mean everywhere. I was no where near the bed with it but had to clean it off the bed. It got into the rug and guess what, it doesn’t come out, I vacuumed and shook the rug out and we are still finding it in the rug.
