Support your cat’s kidney function and healthy levels with VetriScience Kidney Health (new name, same great Renal Essentials formula), a vet-formulated kidney support supplement for cats designed to promote optimal kidney function and overall canine renal health. Perfect for senior pets, cats who struggle with adequate hydration, or those needing additional kidney care, these kidney chews for cats combine antioxidants, adaptogens, herbs, and omega fatty acids to help boost renal circulation, filtration, and waste elimination. This comprehensive kidney supplement for cats is trusted by veterinarians and formulated to help maintain renal health, proper mineral balance, and normal fluid retention, making it one of the best supplements for cat kidney health. Ingredients like Rehmannia glutinosa, known as “the kidney’s own food,” support kidney function in cats and promote blood flow through the renal system. Astragalus root, Cordyceps sinensis, and DMG help support detoxification, immune health, and healthy renal circulation. Nettle seed extract provides antioxidant benefits, supporting kidney cell health and repair, while B vitamins boost energy and metabolic processes that are critical for renal health. Omega-3s EPA and DHA encourage a healthy inflammatory response, further safeguarding kidney function. Whether you’re looking for cat renal vitamins, daily canine kidney support, or effective kidney chews for cats, Kidney Health helps provide easy cat kidney care. Kidney Health chews have been tested for palatability, with a tempting flavor that even sensitive cats will enjoy. Give as a treat, or break or crush to mix into food for picky pets. Our dog and cat supplements are certified by the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC), routinely undergo third-party testing, and contain no hidden ingredients, artificial dyes, or synthetic colors or preservatives.

Customers say
Customers find the kidney health chews effective, particularly for cats with renal failure and senior cats. The product receives positive feedback for its quality and helps with kidney function, with one customer noting their cat’s improved health. The taste and texture receive mixed reviews – while some cats love the taste, others refuse to eat them, and while the texture softens up perfectly, some find them too hard. The smell and value for money are also mixed aspects, with some customers reporting a strong smell and considering it worth the price, while others find the smell awful and consider it a waste of money.

Making a real difference for 18-year-old kitty with failing kidneys
These chews are more like meaty Gummis than “treats”. I break them into little pieces and add to the meal. This is why I give them five stars – kidney cats pee like crazy, dehydrating themselves and depleting their potassium and B vitamins, which leads to weakness and other problems. Giving subcutaneous fluids as we do (it’s not that hard, don’t be scared), there’s even more peeing. These chews replace the lost vitamins and minerals and I have seen a real difference in our girl, who is in her second year of lab-verified kidney failure.Use a high-quality canned food (if they won’t eat a “prescription” food, what’s the point?), a spoonful of Gerber pureed jarred meat stirred in, the crumbled chews, two a.m. and two p.m., and once a day 2.5 mg of a Pepcid tablet – quarter a 10mg tab. Kidney kitties also get sour stomachs because of their imbalances, and if they feel yucky, they won’t eat. This combined plan is keeping her eating, perky, and not just wasting away. The Gerber meat probably doesn’t have kitty-required taurine, so it’s being used to tempt and is soft on her elderly mouth, not a complete food. Works great. The Pepcid can be crushed and stirred into the food, but better put in a clear gelcap and given with a piller followed by an eyedropper squirt of water to be sure it goes down.Sub-Q fluids are key to flushing out the stuff the kidneys can’t handle anymore – there’s lots of online info about the needs of cats in kidney failure. These chews won’t replace adequate fluids, but I can see a real difference in her strength since we started these.Good luck and I hope this helps.

Game changer for my senior kitty
My sweet senior cat is in the early stages of kidney decline. She is also on prescription urinary food for kidney stones which seems to make her coat dull and shed a lot. I noticed she was looking distressed and lethargic so I decided to go down the rabbit hole of supplements that could help her in the areas needed, but also not cause stones. These popped up immediately & I have purchased other treats by the same brand previously.Iâm am now on my 2nd bag with her. She gets two a day AM/PM. Her overall health & energy have improved immensely! Her coat is also improved with less shedding & has more sheen. Also, I have had zero issues with her not wanting to eat them or being too hard. In fact she meows like crazy when she hears the bag.

Helped our two elderly cats live longer, better lives
The are excellent chews to help your cat if they are experiencing kidney/urinary issues. We had two cats with renal problems (one due to bladder crystals, the other due to genetics), and these chews helped improve their lab results for kidney function. The reason for taking off a star is because our cats did not find the scent or flavor appealing enough to eat. I had to mix these in with enough wet food that they wouldn’t scent them in the food. As long as I could get them to eat these daily, the benefit was there. The vet was pleased with the change in renal lab values closer to normal ranges, and I was pleased knowing I was doing all I could to keep my elderly fur kids as healthy as I could. These chews are supposed moist, but when I first opened the bag their consistency was on the dry side. They crumbled easily for adding to their wet food, and I suspect that their drier texture was one reason the cats didn’t enjoy them on their own as treats. The scent (to me) wasn’t horrible, and as time went by it faded a bit every time the bag was opened. If you do purchase these for your cats, make sure you keep them as airtight as possible and possibly add something like marshmallows to the bag to help keep/add moisture to the treats to keep them from drying out. This isn’t my first experience with VetriScience products. I’ve purchased other cat as well as dog items from them, and for the most part have been very, very pleased with the results. Our vet also recommends these products (though she doesn’t sell them), so that helps me feel comfortable giving them to our pets.

Strong Vitamin smell…
I am mixing this with chicken broth and bit of manuka honey to see if my cat will touch it. Terrible smell. Nothing to attract a cat or any other animal. Tried to feed it today with some regular food and the cat actually eats AROUND anything that touches this stuff. It smells nothing like anything a an animal or human would enjoy. We put B vitamins in capsules for a reason!! Waste of money and will make your cat LESS likely to eat food when it is not feeling well.

We started using this when we had basically given up all hope for our 14 year old cat. The vet was recommending dialysis and thousands of dollars of intervention. We said no, thankfully. He is not perfect and we can hear him yowling in pain sometimes but this product and some other changes we made to his diet made a huge difference. At least try this before you spend serious money.

It was encouraging to see a kidney/renal friendly treat for cats with chronic kidney disease but customer service and product guarantee fall short of other reputable brands offering free returns if the pet does not like/eat the product. This is very short sighted from Vetriscience and cannot recommend for this significant reason particularly with the very high cost.

Giving these to me geriatric cat with stage 2 kidney disease. I just toss it in his dry food bowl and eats it no problem.

This is something that is incredibly hard to rate it’s overall effectiveness on as I am not a vet. What I can say is that this product, in conjunction with bi-weekly subcutaneous fluids, plus a healthy diet focused on non-grain low-protein food has seemed to help the longevity of 2 of our feline friends with chronic kidney disease. It’s sad that such a common disease in felines has not come up with a cure yet, but hopes are that it will soon. While my cat grew tired of the taste of these within a few months, slight flavour tweaking with other powders seems to keep her eating them. Not all kitties are the same, some will take to these others not so much, but things can be done to encourage kitties to eat them. Ultimately, I believe they help, I hope you get some extended life out of your family friend with these. It sucks to lose our companions, I do think that these help but there is more to extending a comfortable life for our friends than treats. So much for my usual humorous Amazon reviews…

My cat thinks these are actual treats – she loves them. I haven’t had her retested so I don’t know if they are making a difference with her kidneys. She doesn’t seem to be drinking or urinating quite as much which is a good thing.UPDATE:I’ve been ordering these chews since May. I just opened the 5th package from this company. All the others were excellent. This package is obviously old or past their prime (I can’t find an expiry date). I use them to encase my cat’s pills. This package of chews are not very chewy. I really depend on this product since it’s the only method I have found to use for pilling as well as to help with her kidney issues. I hope the company stands behind their product.
