The concentrate is SAFE after applying/diluting per label directions, but can be dangerous if consumed by birds, plants and dogs in its concentrated form. DO NOT use this product in water features containing fish.

How much product do I need?
For visible algae growth, use 0.5 – 1 ounce per 250 gallons of water. For freshly cleaned fountains, use 0.25 – 0.5 ounces per 250 gallons of water. For maintenance dosing, use 0.25 – 0.75 ounces per 1,000 gallons of water every 5 – 7 days.

Works perfect
This works great for my outside fountain. The birds come every day to it to drink and bathe. First, it cleared up the algae in the fountain and now it keeps it clean. Which means I donât have to take it apart and clean the filter as much. I just add a little bit to a gallon of water. Itâs safe for the animals, even the squirrels come up and drink. This is my second bottle and I will keep ordering this. If you have a birdbath or a water fountain, you canât go wrong with this.

Works Great
After years of generally disappointing results from other fountain algicides, I decided to give this one a try. Bear in mind that my fountain is very small (perhaps about 2-3 gallons of water), so when you do the math on the recommended amount of algicide to use it literally comes out to a few drops. At this rate the 8oz bottle will last forever so for me the value is tremendous. I have been using this for three months so far, treating every 10-15 days and so far, there is absolutely no sign of algae whatsoever! And as I understand it, when used as directed it is not harmful to birds, humans or other animals (save perhaps fish). I know that this chemical is used in swimming pools as a chlorine alternative with no apparent risk so it seems like it would be OK. Obviously I’m not an expert and can’t say with certainty that it is 100% safe, but what I can say is it works great for algae control.

Works exceptionally well and goes a long way
This is great algaecide. It works exceptionally well and a little goes a long way. I have a (est.) 20 gallon fountain and put 1 cap full in the fountain once a week during the summer and once every 2 weeks in spring and fall. I have a float system connected to a water source that always keeps the fountain full. I first purchased this in April 2023 and the 8 oz bottle lasted until August 2025. There was still some left, but it had lost most of it’s effectiveness after 2 years (pretty impressive). Before I started using this algaecide, I’d get algae growth within a week during the summer. It would be completely green within 10 days. I can’t comment on how it effects fish, but birds use the fountain daily with no ill effects. It’s a great value for the money.

Ok, totally honest review here. I put this in a small water feature, old and stained but freshly scrubbed, used less than a quarter cap full and on a 100 degree, sunny day when there would have been algae growth, I have none. Tomorrow is going to be another scorcher, so we’ll see how it looks in the evening. So far, I’m pretty impressed. I did read the one star reviews after purchasing. . .what is being said is not exactly true. The “hazardous to humans and domestic animals” is only when exposed to the concentrated form, however, it says nothing about how potentially hazardous it is in its’ diluted form (and it should, just like the Amazon description). I have a dog that drinks out of my water features, so that concerns me. I certainly don’t want to poison my dog, nor do I want to poison any animals that use that water feature every day. So. . .I am torn. It definitely works on algae, but at what cost? The whole reason I have the water feature is for the animals that visit my yard. It’s too bad the company that makes the product isn’t more detailed and clear about the safety of this product. The other thing that is on the label, but not in the Amazon description, is that it is considered a “pesticide”. I am still researching the exact ingredients and I would suggest anyone considering purchase do the same and then make your decision based on your findings. I will probably look for a more natural alternative to this product our of concern for animals, but it definitely does its’ job on algae.

A CURE-ALL! A MAGIC ELIXER!!: Fountain Algaecide and Clarifier
FINALLY found something that killed all the green algae in my decorative, cement 2-tier water fountain, AND KEEPS IT AWAY! Been using fountain water cleaning solutions for 1-2 years from a national hardware store that kept the fountain water clear for about 1 week, BUT ONLY AFTER I DUMPED ALL THE FOUNTAIN WATER myself, and refilled the fountain with fresh water. Never really solved the problem; green algae. However, Fountain Algaecide and Clarifier does the trick. Dumped all the old water out of the fountain 2 weeks ago, added a capful of this incredible algae-terminator solution, and my fountain water is still running CRYSTAL CLEAR! IT’S AMAZING! Since I just started using this miracle working solution, I’m not sure how long that capful of potent formula will keep the water fountain’s water clear. So, I’m going to sit-tight, keep my eyes on my water fountain, and when the water starts to turn green with algae, I’ll then know the run-time for a capful of this dynamo solution, dump out the fountain water, and start all over again. (I believe the bottle says add one capful per week, but I’m going to test it and see how long one week’s application will last before I have to start over, and begin administering the solution weekly, as the bottle suggests. After 2-3 years of trying to find a water fountain water clarifier, I’ve FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION! I’m an INCREDIBLY SATISFIED CUSTOMER!
