Excellent book for reptile keepers
Excellent book to learn from if you keep reptiles and want to do some homework beyond just relying on vets or what you hear around forums. It gives you a good gist of the different kinds of parasites and treatments so you have some base of knowledge in case your local vet might not be so specialized with reptiles, or to supplement, or confirm or deny what you’re hearing elsewhere. You can even learn how to administer some of the more common non-prescription things like Fenbendazole (Panacur) yourself. If you have snakes I also recommend another book called “What’s Wrong With My Snake” that covers a lot of other common ailments and issues. I feel like between these two books I went from being unsure about a lot of things to being pretty well equipped to treat most common issues the way a farmer would do with their livestock and just rely on vets for more serious things.

Really good
This is a great book for anyone wanting to know more about reptile parasites, especially those that are considering performing their own fecal tests, etc. YouTube is another great resource to see some of these tests in live action.

Good Book!
This book was perfect for me. I recently discovered issues with parasites in my reptiles. After purchasing this book my understanding of parasites and the treatment of these creatures grew incredibly. The recommended drugs table is one of the best features inside. Not only will this book help you identify parasites in but it list primary and even some secondary medications to use. Explanations of how these medications work and their dosages are given as well. This is a good book for anyone wanting to learn more about treating parasites in reptiles. The only thing that is missing is the life cycles of the parasites mentioned. However some parasite life cycles aren’t completely understood be science.

Great to have on hand.
Great small book to have on hand and also great for new people in the hobby to get the basics of reptile parasites and how to treat them. It’s not a replacement of a vet, but it also includes information like websites on where to find REAL reptile vets (which is actually hard). This is a book that will always stay in my reptile room.

Needs some updates and a little ego heavy, but otherwise a fantastic resource
This is a great book but I do wish there were more species-specific pictures of parasite ova (eggs). Some of the parasite eggs are quite ambiguous although this just might be an issue with the state-of-the-field. I do wish there were more and updated treatment suggestions for some of the parasites. Some, like coccidia, are generally treated with 1-2 treatments of newer coccidiacidal meds like Baycox rather than extended courses like albon. There is a bit of ego inherent in Roger’s writing that I also found a little obvious and that caught me off-guard.

It has been over a year my animals and I have been experiencing the death and destruction wrought by parasites. Following many failed attempts at being treated by any doctors/veterinarians/professionals, this book has once again instilled a glimmer of hope in finding the means to an end. Roger Klingenberg has been an enormous help in covering all the bases in an easily understood manner.
