Customers say

Customers find the fly mask works well for trail riding and appreciate its lightweight design, correct fit, and good construction. Moreover, the mask effectively covers the horse’s nose, with one customer noting it keeps noses from getting sunburned. However, the durability receives mixed feedback, with several customers reporting that it tears easily.

Able to see where he’s looking
It’s good to see where he is looking when we’re in the forest. Light and effective.

Terrific over bridle or lunge halter!!
I already use the standard Cashel long nose fly masks. Really like the look of these lighter weight masks for riding. And yup, works great! I don’t think I would use this for any kind of pasture turnout though and it doesn’t seem to have any UV protection like the standard masks so I apply sunscreen to my horses nose when using this one

    Better than regular
My horse has a white nose and requires sunscreen to prevent nasty burns. However, she has a lot of problems with head touching so flymasks have also been my go to. I have used many many different types of flymasks, but this one is the best one. Even though it is a lot clearer, there are no burns on her nose (or her eye, which tends to get very red too). However, this product is not REALLY a flymask. The heavy duty version that Cashel also produces works great – except she loves to take it off (somehow) and enjoys me huffing and puffing around her field to try and find the thing. However, the other Cashel does not rip as easy. This one does. I gave this product 3/4 stars because I understand it is not meant to be heavy duty, and not suppose to withstand the wear and tear of my horse wearing it every day for the whole summer. However, with that being said, I had accidentally gotten this Cashel Quiet Ride about a year ago and decided to just give it a go and was very pleasantly surprised when it worked just as well as the heavy duty Cashel Fly mask PLUS she never took it off! (It might be because its softer and more see through? No clue). It lasted all last summer with a small rip in it so I wasn’t too surprised when this summer came around and she ripped it within the first week. It was old, it was worn, I was okay. So I bought another one. The new one lasted a week. I was severely disappointed. I do not understand how the previous one had lasted months yet this one barely stands up to my expectations. I’m kinda upset since it costs a quite a bit of money (plus the Quiet Rides with the nose piece are not sold in stores around me and therefore must wait days for it to arrive). I do recommend it, but … just be warned. It’s flimsy, and it’s meant to be.

I have a bug sensitive AQHA buckskin gelding who developed an annoying head tossing over worry about the possibility a fly might land on his nose. This is so annoying when riding as it seems to be the only thing he stays focused on is tossing his head on the trail. This mask has made him so comfortable and very happy Cashel makes these for horses like him. I purchased the “horse” size for my horse and fits him perfect. Extremely well made and worth the price. It is light weight, very breathable, and does not interfere at all with his sight or his bridle. The pleating in this mask keeps the mask off the horses eyes. We wont leave home without it!

    Fits well, but…
I was pleasantly surprised at how well this fits my horse–he has a big head and I was worried about that. It looks nice, too. I put it on my horse and went home, and then read the packaging again. I was chagrinned to see that it says “For riding ONLY.” I didn’t notice that in the online description. The next day, as I drove up to my horse’s pasture, I noticed that there were many flies on the nose-part of his mask. I inspected it closely, and found that they were trying to get at the parts by each nostril where he snorts and there was moisture stuck there because of the fine mesh. There was also already some little rips about the size of a pencil eraser. So, I have to put this mask on only as necessary, and it might not last very long, the way it’s going now.
