Nice Heater
CLIFF NOTE VERSION: Both heater work very well. The Nicrew is smaller, less obtrusive, but not adjustable. The Hygger is a tad larger, is adjustable, and has a large red LED readout of the tank temperature.LONG VERSION: I have purchased mini-heaters in the past and they either didn’t heat or fried the water. I long ago learned to do the bucket test. I purchased the Nicrew Mini (15 watt) and the Hygger (15 watt). The Nicrew is smaller with a preset stated as 76 degrees F. The Hygger is adjustable with a large LED readout. It is super easy to set. Thereâs a rheostat type adjuster thatâs on the cord. The readout is on the heater. That makes it easy to bump the heat up or down without sticking your hand in the water. The downside is that the light on the heater is noticeable in the tank. Youâll want to hide it with plants or décor if youâre going for a natural look. Both were placed in a 3 gallon bucket of 70 degree water for one hour before plugging in. This is a manufacturer suggestion, and, IMHO, failing to do this is bad for the heater. The room was 70 degrees. I plugged them in and set the Hygger. An hour later both buckets of water were at 74-75. That temp held for 24 hours, even though the room temp dropped to 65 at night. I’m now using the Nicrew 15 watt in a 2.5 gallon tank and Iâve very happy with it. The Nicrew holds rock steady at 74. I’m keeping both heaters. I’ll use the Hygger in the winter when the room temp is much colder and I may need to use the adjustable feature to compensate for the room/tank temps. I used a scientific thermometer for my readings. Big thumbs up for both heaters. I suggest you do the bucket test as heaters can vary.

Works wonderfully
I love these heaters. This is my 3rd, but first Iâve bought that has the thermostat on the actual heater. It is larger than my other heaters with external thermostats, but it surprisingly doesnât throw off the aesthetic of my tank and I LOVE being able to see the temperature without having to find the external corded one I try and hide or having to press a button like you do with those thermostats you can attach to your tank. This heater also heated my tank from 65 to 80 in about an hour. The temperature holds very steady. I am very happy with this heater and will continue to buy this brand of heaters going forward.

Will it fit in the tank?
I love this honestly because I can set it to my desired heat for my fish so very easy to use. This product is good sticks really well to the tank. I got the one ment for 10 gallons and is the perfect size. This heater does function well I would recommend this to first time buyers.

Buy a size up for your tank
Nice looking heater. I like that it is shatterproof. Easy to install and very easy to adjust temperature. I was very excited for this because it is marketed as exactly what I am looking for. However, I recommend customers buy at least 1 size above their current tank, so that this heater works properly.I have the 50w heater, made for 5-10 gallon tank. However, when I have my house at 75°F the heater can’t even keep my 6 gallon tank above 72°F when I have the heater set at 79°F.They either need to remarket the 50w heater for much smaller tanks or check their heating capacity and make sure some calibration isn’t wrong.I plan to buy another heater, probably a 100w and add it to my tank as well. I don’t want my tropical fish fry dying.

Great Heater for Fluval Premium Betta Tank, but only rated for 10000 hours
This heater appears to be custom-made for the Fluval Premium Betta 2.6 & 6-gallon tanks. The 50W heater can effectively handle low room temperatures in winter without overheating the tank in summer.Removing the suction cups, it perfectly fits into the rear well next to the pump. Its display shines through the decalled glass to show temperature and activity. So far, it has kept the temperature at 0.5â above the set point of 76â, with room temperature fluctuating from 62â to 79â. With 25W, it should be capable of dealing with winter nighttime temperatures. We do not heat at night, and room temperatures might drop to 50â.It works accurately and reliably, but it has an indicated 10,000-hour design lifetime. It will indicate an “EL” end-of-life error after that to prompt replacement. This should be listed in the product description. Background: The bundled Fluval heaters have a fixed set point and run the tank at higher temperatures than I prefer. For $22 this hygger is a great improvement!

Easy and worth the purchase!
We have two and both are operating great so far! One is in our 2 gallon betta tank and the other is in our 3.5 gallon betta tank. We have glass thermometers in the tanks as well to double check the temperature each day and haven’t had any issues. I really like the ability to set the temperature and have the heater constantly monitor it. The red light comes on when heating and green light comes on when the set temperature is reached. For us, they work very well! Super easy to use and set up. Would absolutely recommend. (we have the smallest wattage heater)

2nd heater that doesnât work!
I was sooooooo excited for this heater after seeing all the positive reviews on it. Smh. The first heater I bought, didnât even indicate with the red light that it was heating. In general it wasnât even getting warm! Ordererd a replacement and it came pretty fast. Thank you for that. The second one, didnât even get warm just like the second one! At least got the second it showed the ref light. Both did not get my water heated at all! Iâm so disappointed for my turtle.

Keeping it warm
Bought this to replace a heater that did not have a thermostat. Tested it in a 2 gal tank along with a thermometer positioned on opposite wall. Worked great. Put it in my 5 gal tank, set for 80F for my betta. So far so good, no issues. It is behind the foam filter unit so heat is distributed through water and the thermometer on opposite wall is seeing same temp as given on thermostat. Happy with my purchase. Price seems fair to me.

Nice smaller size for nano tank, just wish cable was more flexible. Iâve had more powerful thermos with cables easier to tuck behind plants. That being said, not unhappy with purchase. Easy to adjust temp and lights a bit bright, but itâs nice to see running temp.

I had a different brand heater and it was always a few degrees hotter than what I set it to (around 75)I put this heater in a tank that’s a couple gallons bigger than what it’s rated for but since the temperature is only set to around 75 it is perfectly stable and has no problems. It’s nice and small

I take my review back I think this heater is actually doing good so far just had to change the temperature again 🙂

I finally have an aquarium heater that heats up the tank and keeps the heat in it. Digital is the only way to go.
