Great brand, great effects
Overall, the brand has a good name. Used this on a family horse, a 14yo OTTB gelding, and itâs greatly helped to calm his nervous, âtypical-OTTBâ energy greatly. Extremely palatable and never had in issue with him eating it in his grain daily. I like that the serving size is such that I can taper it as needed / micro-dose him in the summer months when heâs already more calm with the weather. Overall, love this brand, love this supplement. Would recommend to anyone with a horse that just needs some basic and routine calming support.
All Adventures Matter –
Helps my senior horse.
I purchased smartcalm for a senior horse who is beginning to lose his vision. He was having a lot of anxiety when being put inside the barn during inclement weather. This is a pelleted supplement that goes directly in with his other pelleted feed and he eats it willingly with no complaints. The amount in the bag is a good dose and the quality of this product is great, so I feel that it’s a good value. Smart pak has been a reliable equine company for years and they back their products and answer questions and concerns well.

Great supplement for a spooky horse…
I like this food supplement because she loves the taste and it is easy to administer. This product has lowered her Arabian spookiness but not her alertness or reaction time. I would say it has done a good job so far. She is less spooky and before she jumps at something “scary” I can see her assessing the situation and listening to the softness of my voice and calming a bit. She listens and hesitates before she gets all worked up. That is what I wanted. I didn’t want a drugged up effect, just a chance for her to think before reacting. I will definitely keep feeding her Smart Calm.

Adds a Little Chill
I decided to give these a try to take the edge off of potentially stressful situations with the horses. It doesn’t seem to need to be a daily product. I have fed it an hour or so before and noticed a more relaxed, thinking horse. It obviously won’t train your horse, and certainly won’t knock them out or make them dopey like prescription medications, but if they have anxieties about farriers, vets, trailer loading, its a handy product to have on hand. Or if a nervous type in general, it may help them to focus and accept things better if fed regularly. Smartpak tends to do supplements well, and this is the quality and results I expect from them.

I don’t find it to be particularly useful
I have been giving this to my hot OTTB, and I don’t really see any significant difference in his calmness. He doesn’t really care for the taste of it either, I have to mix it with his regular grain to make him eat it. He won’t just eat it off the palm of my hands like he would with his regular grain. I am a bit disappointed as the bag was not cheap.

The most important thing with any supplement is they have to eat it. If they don’t eat it, what’s the point in giving it to them.She licked her bucket clean. I’m looking forward to seeing how well it takes the edge off.

Doesn’t do much; probably because its a pellet
I have a pretty high strung horse, and this seemed to make no difference whatsoever… I know that pellet is less effective as paste, and Im wondering if this is why.
