Very good insight on internal medicine all technicians should own
This book was bought to help me with general internal medicine info as I study for the VTS in cardiology and I find it very informative and worthy for any technician owning this book. It’s a very good overview of all the topics with IM, and there are a ton, it just doesn’t get into the very nitty-gritty of each disease. Those books are much larger and cost a fortune. The only thing I did not care for is the color scheme for the chapters. Each chapter has it’s own primary color and all the tables have a light version of that color as the background with the text a darker version of the color. They are not complementary and I could see a color blind individual have a hard time reading it. It’s been 10 years, maybe time for a 2nd edition. Great job on it.

Must have for those looking for a VTS in SAIM
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! I used it to obtain my VTS in small animal internal medicine and I continue to use it in my practice. It’s a must have for anyone in our specialty. I ended up using the hard copy for all my studying and got the e-book to take with me for studying on the plane and in the hotel prior to taking my exam.

Depth of concepts varies widely
Have mixed feelings about this book. Although I think the writers and editors did a great job by tackling such a broad area, the book is often inconsistent in the amount of depth it goes into some subjects. There are areas that have minimal to no explanation and there are some extensive explanations of the pathophysiology behind what’s occuring. Given the book is attempting to cover such a large topic, giving consistent amounts of information on each topic may have been more useful.

Throughout the copy I received the printing in tables and some sub headings is faint, by page 410 it is almost unreadable. Sadly I never got round to returning the item. Otherwise I found it a good reference to refresh knowledge (where I could read it!). The reference photographs may leave a bit to be desired if you don’t have someone to help explain what you’re looking at.
